PERSONNEL BOARD MINUTES <br /> MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 12, 1994 <br /> MASHPEE 'TOWN HALL <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present for today <br /> meeting : Chairman Joseph Dellagala, Ronald Levine, and Schuyler Wires , <br /> Chairman Dellagala convened the meeting at 9 : 00 a .m . . <br /> Animal Control Officer Job 'Title <br /> The Board met with Chief Frye and June Daley, Animal Control Officer, <br /> in follow up to a request by June that the job title of Animal Control <br /> Officer be changed to Animal Control Officer/Special Police Officer. <br /> June explained that the title change will help clarify the job . She <br /> said tha-t the position, has grown over the years and considering that <br /> the position is part of the Police Department,, she thought it would <br /> clarify the title a little bit better for the nett person who would <br /> have to be .a Special Police Officer. r <br /> Joe Dellagdla asked if training was needed? Chief Frye replied "yes" . <br /> June said that she .has had the training . Chief Frye explained that she <br /> is in the Police Station, she does details, she is also a special <br /> police officer and can make an arest ,, She has communication with the <br /> radio . She has all the authority . <br /> Joe Dellagala asked if the requirements of a Special Police Officer <br /> should be listed in the job description. June explained that <br /> everything is in the job requirements which calls for a graduate of <br /> Special Police Reserve School and two years experience in law enforce- <br /> ment . She went on to say that she graduated from the Foxboro School <br /> She indicated that once you are a Special Police Officer, you have to <br /> be a certified first responder. She also had to pass t'he criminal law <br /> exam <br /> Chief Frye said that June has the appointment papers of a Special <br /> Police offi er. and that they are trying to bring bath positions <br /> together, June said. that most of the time she is under the Police <br /> Department regulations . <br /> Upon review of the job description, Joe Dellagal.a. commented that the <br /> supervision needed to be clarified as two supervisors are listed on the <br /> position description. Chief of Police and Executive Secretary . He <br /> said that he would be in favor of the change in title to add Special <br /> Police a facer and that he would look into the fact that -she comes <br /> under the supervision of the Police Chief , All Board members were in <br /> agreement with the title change , <br /> Discussion centered around exempt status versus non--exempt stat`t s Joe <br /> asked if the Chief works June over forty hours as a Special Police <br /> Officer and if she receives time and a half? The Chief commented i <br /> that instance she is under Public Safety and would receive overtime . <br /> It would have to be an extreme emergency for overtime . Joe said that <br /> he wants to study the position to see how she should be paid and who <br /> she reports to . <br /> i <br />
