Fick stated that he is working with the Town Manager to handle <br /> the financing and the preparation of the proposal to the CPC, hopefully before their next <br /> meeting in early June. If they receive CPC approval of the proposal, the property purchase <br /> would then go before the Town Meeting for approval next October. <br /> Rosemary asked if it might be necessary to check about any zoning restrictions. Dick felt there <br /> were none She also questioned, "will the abutters be notified?" Rick stated that this hone <br /> purchase is in the preliminary stages, and those concerns will be addressed at a future time. <br /> The site of the community Gardens on Route 130, Main street, has been recommended for <br /> construction of new pickleball courts and associated parking. The Historical Commission <br /> discussed the proposed Community Garden site because it is located in the Historic District of <br /> Mashpee} as well as other possible sites. <br /> The next item of business was to consider the appointment and recommendation of Michael <br /> Horne to the Historical commission. He grew up in Barnstable and after college became a <br /> teacher in the Mashpee schools for over 30 years. He coached several of Mashpee's athletic <br /> teams, and became the first town Athletic Director. His gears working with Mashpee youth and <br /> interest in preserving Mashpee history qualify hire for appointment to the Mashpee Historical <br /> Commission. He has already submitted his letter of interest to the Board of selectmen. Brian <br /> Hyde recommended the approval of his appointment} and the motion was seconded by <br /> Rosemary Love. <br /> Frank Lord informed us that the 3rd Grade schoolhouse tours have been scheduled, and will <br /> begin on Friday, ,dune 2nd. He plans to open the schoolhouse on Thursdays by appointment <br /> unless the visitors corning seems to warrant being open ever} Thursday. carol Wynne will be <br /> assisting with the 31 Grade tours at the Indian Museum. He plans to open the schoolhouse on <br /> Memorial Day just after the Memorial Bay ceremony held in the Mashpee Community Park, <br /> weather permitting. Nancy would like to be able to record Frank's schoolhouse presentations <br /> which are varied and, of course, age appropriate for school children as well as for other visitors. <br /> Clancy has been researching cost to purchase a lame flatbed scanner for the Archives since vire <br /> have many documents that once scanned could be available for public access at our website. <br /> She has received a quote from Ienrark for a used Savin color copier/printer for less cost than <br /> a new flatbed scanner. she has been encouraged by IT department to consider this purchase <br /> We discussed renewing our membership in the Massachusetts Archaeological society, Society <br /> of American Archivists and American Association for state and Local History. commissioners <br /> voted not to renew BSA and AA LH and suggested memberships in Massachusetts Historical <br /> Society and New England Historical and Genealogical society. We also agreed to obtain <br /> license ($50) to print documents from Barnstable county Registry of Creeds. <br /> Ava Costello asked if we could have some new business cards printed. She, Nancy, and Ann <br /> attended a conference on Local Preservation in Brewster on May 23rd and the need for new <br />
