MAS EE SCHOOL COMMITTEE - REGULAR MEETING - JANUARY 4, 1995 PAGE <br /> approve thea in addition to the Superintendent. She asked <br /> if she could receive a health packet that will be <br /> distributed prior to the Health Fair. Also, Mrs. Mulvey <br /> expresssed concern over the reorganization with busing, <br /> equity of lockers, supplies, and the Coombs School study <br /> halls. <br /> Dr. Petti said she was' a member of the Coombs School <br /> building committee and the school was designed, built and <br /> funded by the state to house grades K- 6 . The School <br /> Building Assistance Bureau and Department of Education <br /> approved the specs for the Coombs School including classroom <br /> spaces, special education, art, music, science, and reading. <br /> she continued saying the state reimbursed the Town of a K-6 <br /> school and if the town is ever audited and the Coombs School <br /> is not being a K-6 school, what would the legal <br /> ramifications be She stress that "in no way is the <br /> Coombs School not equipped to handle K-6. " <br /> IV, 4 . 1 School Committee - Ms . Gibbs distributed the National School <br /> Communi- Board Association 55th Conference flyer and the MASC work- <br /> cations shop entitled "Evaluating' Your Superintendent' scheduled for <br /> Saturday, January 14 , 1995 . <br /> Ms. Gibbs also said the Action Plan for the Student Learning <br /> Time Regulations were available for perusal. <br /> At this time, Dr. Betti said the Leisure Service By-Laws <br /> looked good but asked what was the rationale used for <br /> selecting members-at-large? Ms. Gibbs responded that two <br /> members were selected from the Board of Selectmen and two <br /> members from the School Cormmittee, <br /> 4 . 1. 1 Letter - Diane Mu lve - Ms. Gibbs read this letter <br /> aloud which referred to the reorganization petition, The <br /> petition requests "a thorough analysis of the K-6 plan be <br /> looked into before implementing; especially a cost <br /> analysis. " <br /> 4 . 1.2 Petition - Included in the packet was the petition <br /> referred to in Mrs. Mulvey's letter along with signatures of <br /> approximately 90 parents. <br /> 4. 1..3 Letter -- Corinne Wickel - Ms. Gibbs read aloud Mrs. <br /> Wicked.'s letter regarding the reorganization. <br /> 4 . 1.4 Letter - Niki and Robert Mills - Ms. Gibbs read this <br /> letter regarding the reorganization, petition and removal, of <br /> their names. Although in favor in the two elementary school <br /> concept, the petition did not address anything about <br /> alternative plans that were added after their signatures. <br />
