MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 5. 1994 PAGE <br /> Motion made by Mr. Consalvi, seconded by Ms. Gibbs, to <br /> approve recommendation. <br /> VOTE: [unanimous <br /> 7 -s3 Surplus Build � Earlier in the year, the school <br /> Department stated that they would turn the Samuel G. Davis <br /> building over to the Town when approval, for a high school <br /> was received. <br /> Dr. DeMoura feels that the Davis School can no longer be <br /> used efficiently as a school and suggested that the <br /> Committee declare the building surplus and pursue approval <br /> of a memorandum of understanding between the Board of <br /> Selectmen and the School Committee' regarding the relocation <br /> of the central administration officesib <br /> Motion made by Dr. Petti, seconded by Mr. consal i, to <br /> declare the Davis School surplus. <br /> Ms. Gibbs asked where would the Superintendent's office be <br /> relocated to Dr, DeMoura said that his office would remain <br /> in the Davis School. until July. Dr. DeMoura told the <br /> Committee that he is working with Executive Secretary Robert <br /> whritenour on this issue. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> Mr. Consalvi made a motion to accept the "Memorandum of <br /> Understanding" between the School Committee and Board of <br /> Selectmen as stated. The Board of Selectmen are currently <br /> in discussion stades but had asked for a figure for the <br /> amount of space needed to accommodate the central <br /> administration offices, An RFP must be formulated before <br /> any final decisions are made. <br /> Dr. Petti seconded the motion to accept the "Memorandum o <br /> Understanding" . <br /> VOTE: [unanimous <br /> A Long Range Plan for High School. - Dr. DeMoura outlined the <br /> long range plan for the opening of Mashpee High School. In <br /> it were four areas of major planning activities. They were <br /> staffing, curriculum/program, equipment/supplies, and moving <br /> classrooms/schools. Mrs. Duni an asked why would a high <br /> school principal meed to be hired two years prior to the <br /> opening of a high school. Dr. DeMoura responded saying that <br /> it was necessary to have that person take a lead position as <br /> soon as possible due to the enormous amount of work that <br /> needs to be done. This issue will be discussed and voted o <br /> in the coming months. <br />
