VOTE: UnaniLmous VTI. 7 . 1 Proposed 1994-1995 School Calendar - The Falmouth school New Committee adopted a 1994--1995 school calendar eliminating Business the February and April vacations and replacing them with with a vacation week in March. The Mashpee Public Schools would continue to observe the Barnstable County Teachers' Convention in September, however, The proposed calendar would be a one-year trial basis but has significant impl is tions for Mashpee students attending Falmouth High School, The two options Dr. DeMoura offered were as follows: Option One: Pro - Traditional calendar will be maintained. . Vacation plans may have already been made. Con - 500+ students will be following different school calendars. . Increase in transportation costs. Families with children in high school. and K-8 will be disrupted. Option Two: Pro -- More consistent with today's educational goals. t Most families will not be disrupted. . Children will follow a similar calendar. Vacations can be planned with a cost savings not during traditional vacation period) . No increase in transportation costs. Con - Change is difficult. . May interfere with vacation plans. Br. DeMoura recommended "Option. Two to be consistent with Falmouth Public Schools. The 1.994-1395 school calendar will { be voted on at the February regular School Committee { meeting. 7 . . Surplus Eguip—men - Dr. DeMoura said that a maroon 1990 Chevrolet 9-passenger station wagon,., VIN #lGIBU84Y6LA117372 is no longer being used by the school department due to safety reasons. Thus, he recommended declaring said vehicle as surplus and allow the Board. of Selectmen to assign this vehicle to another department.
