MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING - NOVEMBER 1.. 1995 FAGS 4 <br /> are scheduled for November 13 and 1 . <br /> 5 .2 . 3 High School - Mr. Williams reported the Junior Honor <br /> Society had a successful walk for the homeless in October <br /> and raised $boo; the art classes are participating in <br /> Falmouth Hospital 's the painting pro3ect; reiterated the <br /> Parent/Teacher conferences will be held t o e�:,er 13 and 1 ; <br /> and he thanked the school Committee for giving him the <br /> opportunity to attend the technology conference in Atlanta. <br /> 5 . 3 Enrollments - Dr, DeMoura reported there are currently 1, 808 <br /> students in grades p -Grade 12 with 59 attending Cape Cod <br /> Tech. <br /> .4 Food Service Update -- Dr, DeMoura informed the Committee <br /> that Canteen has instituted a new practice of charging the <br /> customer in September for unused inventory. This is a one- <br /> time charge, The printout shows a loss of $1, 933. 60 in <br /> September, however, the unused inventory totalled $6,383.00 . <br /> Thus, actual profit was $4,449.40. This figure will be <br /> reflected in October's food service printouts <br /> 5.5 F96FY96 Monthly Budget yi w - Mrs.. Lynch asked "How are we <br /> doing with the budget?" Dr* DeMoura responded, "We're in <br /> fairly good shape. " However, there are some maintenance <br /> issues that will be coming up soon. <br /> 5 ,6 Air Quality Testing - Middle School - Br. DeMoura reported <br /> on air duality complaints in four classrooms at the Middle <br /> School. As a result of these complaints, it was decided to <br /> consult the services of OccuHealth from Mansfield to conduct <br /> tests. The following results werediscovered: <br /> airborne levels' of fungi are excessive but the same <br /> as outdoors. <br /> airborne bacterial organisms detected were found in <br /> similar concentrations indoors and outdoors. <br /> the carpeting in all rooms was f ound to have a high <br /> concentration of bacteria, probably due to being wet. <br /> Dr. LeMoura said he has received estimates to remedy the <br /> situation which will cost around $9, 000 . He said the school <br /> department will purchase area rugs for the classrooms where � <br /> the students sit on the floor for group activities. <br /> 5 ,7 Home Instruction - As of this date, there are three children <br /> receiving approved home instruction.
