w
MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE - REGULAR MEETING -- NOVEMBER 11 1995 PAGE 5
visitation for one child standardized testing provided by
the parent for two children. Additionally, there is one
grade nine student who will receive a home visit and
standardized testing in the spring.
5. 8 30/60-Day Plan - At their October 10, 1995 meeting, the High
School Building Committee requested- the school. department to
prepare a30-day plan and a -day plan in case the high
school does not open in September, 1996. After consulting
with the principals, Br, DeMoura submitted the following
plan while stressing it is based on a very short terra basis:
Grade 6 classes at the Coombs School will remain there
in Grade 7 ..
At the Middle School, the audio-visual room and the
Hone Economics room will accommodate classes on
temporary basis.
The library at the Middle School will accomodate two
classes on a temporary basis.
The French teacher, the Health teacher, and possibly
Math teachers will f lot to open classrooms on a
temporary basis.
Mrs. cook thought perhaps officials should discuss the plan
with the sixth, seventh- and eighth graders so they feel they
can be a part of the decision-making process.
Mrs. Lynch said usage of the library as classrooms would be
disruptive for all middle school students and suggested
changing the full-day program as a possible way to free up
some classrooms. She said both schoolswon't have equity if
one school has a library while the other does not.
Mr. Paxton felt that students should not attend the high
school while it is still under construction stating that the
character of those working at the high school are unknown.
He also thought a, contingency plan should be in place for a
longer period of time in case construction is delayed even
longer. Mrs. Cook agreed.
Mgrs. dills stated that the building inspector has already
said a permit for partial occupancy would be given only if
steps were taken to prevent people from going into any areas
that have not yet been completed.
Mar. Ted O'Rourke, Grade 8 teacher, said the teachers'
association has concerns as well and is willing to work with
the principals to in developing a contingency planis
