The Alternative Education program is an easy target because of perceived <br /> numbers. While the program itself would service few directly, it would <br /> greatly improve overall instruction by offering an alternative to those <br /> students who might otherwise be disruptive in the general classroom <br /> setting. These are the individuals who need the program the most. The <br /> design of the program is to help correct behavioral deficiencies so that <br /> the students involved may at some point. re-enter the traditional <br /> classroom with some expectation' of success.'In terms of monetary <br /> considerations, it would take only 1 or 2 students who would have to be <br /> placed outside for the program to be more than cost effective. <br /> We hope that the Committee will be able to argue successfully the merits <br /> of all of our proposed school programs, but if that becomes an <br /> impossibility, then we would at least like consideration of the specific <br /> positions that we have identified. <br /> i <br />
