All programs will begin in September and the <br /> elementary school will be left In tact. -She said the High <br /> School Building Committee is indebted to provide a place for <br /> the students in September. <br /> I <br /> Mrs, Lynch expressed concerns over the trailers affecting <br /> only the Middle School and not Coombs School. Mro Paxton <br /> asked whors going into the trailers Dr, DeMoura said the <br /> scheduling is still be worked on. Mr.. Paxton suggested each <br /> grade use a trailer rather than having one particular group <br /> utilize one every day. <br /> 6 . 4 F 97 Budget -- 543, 726 - Dr. DeMoura recommended a budget <br /> figure of $8,543, 726 for the F' 9 7 school budget. He said <br /> the Finance Committee's announcement of $7 ,5001000 would <br /> either prevent us from opening the high school successfully <br /> and/or require the dismantling of several successful student <br /> programs, <br /> Motion made by Mr. Consalvi to accept $8,543,726 as the F 9 7 <br /> school budget and recommend to the Finance Committee. Mrs, <br /> Cook seconded the motion. <br /> Discussion followed with Mrs, Lynch referring to articles in <br /> local newspaper stating that next year will be a tough one <br /> on the Cape and suggested working more with the Finance <br /> Committee so there will not be a fight on Town Meeting floor <br /> in May. <br /> Mr. Paxton agreed suggesting possible program cuts including <br /> the Alternative Education program, the gifted program, grade <br /> teachers could teach grade 8 classes, the assistant <br /> principal "'doing some different positions, " chance the five- <br /> ear curriculum plan to every six years to sage money, he <br /> wants to deep a librarian at each school, and is concerned <br /> about a custodian being cut from the Coombs School. <br /> Mrs. Dills agreed. She said cuts could include a grade 6 <br /> and 8 teacher, the Alternative Education teacher coup be <br /> funded in a different way, cut down on the gifted teacher <br /> and assistant volunteer coordinator. She felt it is <br /> imperative to have a librarian in each building. Mrs, Mills <br /> suggested the school committee to meet as ar committee and <br /> shape the budget from $8 .5 million and not shave too much <br /> off the programs. <br />
