MA PEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE - REGULAR MEETING - MAY 1, 1996 PACE <br /> Mrs. Cook asked how much would it cost to do the suggested <br /> recommendations. Dr, DeMoura said recent testing will <br /> exceed $1,800; the equipment s mentioned above) is $2, 300; <br /> $6, 000 to replace the carpeting. <br /> Mrs. Mills asked Dr, DeMoura to devise a projected cost plan <br /> for the above-mentioned air quality issue. BeMoura responding saying <br /> that there may be a small balance. He also stated that <br /> $202,820 was received from Medicaid reimbursement. <br /> 5.7 Review of Educational Regulations -- Dr. DeMoura reviewed the <br /> regulations being proposed by Governor Weld, at the May <br /> Board of Education meeting, which takes a loop at all <br /> regulations older than two years. The Governor is looking <br /> for a "sunset" on or before December 31, 1996. The <br /> Department of Education has undertaken this challenge and is <br /> looking through all educational regulations. <br /> Dr, DeMoura pointed out that the Commissioner of Education <br /> is planning to repeal physical education, nutritionf <br /> tractor-trailer school, and fiscal accountability for grant <br /> program regulations. <br /> He also noted consolidation sets of regulations for post- <br /> secondary schools, notice of intent to consolidate the <br /> regulations governing School District Reorganization and <br /> School Employees Collective Bargaining into one <br /> comprehensive regulation, notice of intent to amend the <br /> kindergarten regulations. Also, at the June Board meeting, <br /> amendments to the Transitional Bilingual Education <br /> regulations and Access to Equal Educational opportunity <br /> regulations, and adapt as final regulations the school <br /> Construction regulations were that placed out for public <br /> conment at the March meeting. At the July or August Board <br /> of Education meeting, notice of intent to amend the School. <br /> Finance regulations and the regulations governing Racial. <br /> Imbalance and Magnet School Programs, notice of intent to <br /> amend and consolidate the regulations governing <br /> Certification of Educational Pe son el, Recertification and <br /> Certification of Supervisors of Attendance and those <br /> portions of the current vocational Education regulations <br /> relating to the approval of vocational education <br /> instructors, and notice of intent to amend the vocational. <br /> Education regulations. Also, the Board of Education will <br /> discuss amending the regulations governing the Massachusetts <br /> testing program in order to be consistent with the new <br />
