MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE - PUBLIC HEARING - JUNE 5, 1996 PAGE 2
having Leisure Services provide lessons, doing after school,
doing in school, and the difference between out-sourcing and
doing internally. The Committee concluded that, if held
after school, participation would drop off; to charge
children would probably result in families with lesser
economic means would not be able to participate. Mrs. Lynch
noted that if the School Department does not charge for
sports, it could not charge for lessons.
VII. Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Cook, to approve
Approval/ $8,400, 000 for the FY97 budget.
Disapproval
of FY97 Mrs. Lynch asked could this be done without the "other
Budget money. " Dr. DeMoura said this could be done, however, if
transfers are not approved, further reductions would have to
be made. He suggested continuing the Public Hearing on June
24, 1996.
After further discussion, Mrs. Mills rescinded her motion
and Mrs. Cook rescinded her second.
It was decided to continue to Public Hearing on Monday, June
24, 1996 at 5:30 p.m. in the Middle School Library.
Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Cook, to
continue the Public Hearing on June 24, 1996 at 5:30 p.m. in
the Middle School Library.
VOTE: Unanimous
Respectfully submitted,
Marjorie R. O'Brien
School Committee Secretary
