Macdonald, to approve the executive <br /> session of August 7. 1996. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> III, Diane Thompson expressed her dismay at the School <br /> Public Committee for not ' taking measures in planning for a worst <br /> Forum case scenario when, it was decided that the high school <br /> would not he opening on schedule. She said an alternative <br /> plan should have been devised before now and' with the <br /> elementary schools being overcrowded now with the high school <br /> students attending the Coombs School and Middle school, she <br /> asked if a fire hazard would exist with the additional <br /> students. Mrs. Thompson was also concerned with the impact <br /> this situation would have on the students trying to adjust <br /> to being schooled! .in the elementary schools then moved to the <br /> high school and more time will be needed to adjust to that <br /> school. Mrs. Thompson also expressed concern over students <br /> in the building while construction workers are still on the <br /> ]ob sante. She was assured that a fire door located between <br /> the academic wind' and the remainder of the ]wilding exists to <br /> separate the students from the construction area. <br /> Mr, Paxton agreed with Mrs. Thompsoft" s concerns and said the <br /> School Committee "has been put between a rock and a hard <br /> place. " He said partial occupancy, in his opinion, was not <br /> favorable option :f roan the beginning. - <br />
