Mrs. Lynch said she understood <br /> that a letter would be home to parents who thought their child <br /> should be in that program. Dr. DeMoura said he met with Mrs. <br /> Parols i who informed hien close to 60 children have been <br /> screened. The initial screening has been done but the writing <br /> sample has yet to be done, Dr, DeMoura will double--check the <br /> status of this program with Mrs. Paroisi. <br /> Mrs. - Lynch reminded Dr. DeMoura that the inclusion policy <br /> would be reviewed for negotiations. Dr. DeMoura will check <br /> into that. <br /> Also, Mrs. Lynch questioned the sports policy asking if a <br /> child is failing a subject, will that child be allowed to <br /> participate in sports activities? Is that a school Committee <br /> policy or a high school policy?" Mr. Williams said that is an <br /> MIAA policy, Mrs. Lynch asked if it could made stricter Mr. <br /> Williams said the School Council decided to support the MIAA <br /> policy that requires students to pass four major subjects. <br /> Mr. Paxton mentioned reading was brought back for grade 7 and <br /> this year it is not there. Mr. Williams explained that <br /> students in foreign language for example, Spanish on Monday, <br /> Wednesday, and Friday; thea reading on Tuesday, and Thursday) <br /> for the first half of the year and during the second hal <br /> reverses. For those students who do not have a foreign <br /> language will have reading every day. <br /> Mr. Paxton asked why are grade six students switching classes.? <br /> He thought we were going to self--contained and asked is there <br /> reason why we are not? ' Dr. DeMoura said that we still have <br /> one person who does not have a general certificate at the <br /> Diddle school and at the Coombs School we are emphasizing <br /> math instruction. one sixth grade teacher has a strong math <br /> background. <br /> Xie Motion made by Mrs. Cook, seconded by Mrs. Mills, to go into <br /> Executive executive session at 9 :45 p.m. <br /> Session Roll call Vote: In favor - Mr, Paxton, Mrs. Lynch , Mrs. Cook, <br /> Mrs. Mills, and Mrs,. Macdonald; opposed - none. <br />
