They were Grade 7 representatives, <br /> Christopher Ma guire andKristen -Mulvey; Grade 8, <br /> Terri-Lee Hakala; Grade 9. Steven Purcell and Ashley Davis. <br /> Grade 8 student Christopher Farrell was unable to attend the <br /> meeting. <br /> Mr. Paxton asked the Student Advisory Council .members if <br /> they had any questions of the school Committee. Kristen <br /> Mulvey asked why there had been no class advisor for Grade 7 <br /> students. Mr. Williams answered that memo was in the works <br /> regarding extra-curricular lar positions and the Grade 7 class <br /> advisor was include. <br /> Ashley Davis reiterated Mrs. Durhamfs concern regarding <br /> overcrowded after-school. buses. Due to the lack of after- <br /> school transportation, some after-school activities are <br /> being cancelled. Dr. DeMoura will do a Cape--wide survey of <br /> junior/high school late bus availability and costs. <br /> Mrs. Mills agreed that another late bus needs to be added, <br /> perhaps on- two different days. <br /> 6 .4 Expenses Related to Hicth School - Dr. DeMoura informed � <br /> the coanittee of the current expenses due to the delayed <br /> opening of the high school. As of November 22, 1996, the <br /> School Department had spent $56, 643.84 . Broken down, <br /> $25,294 .53 in expenses; $31,349. 31, isalaries. He noted, <br /> however, these expenses are on-going and this is not a final <br /> figure. For example, custodial weekend expenses at the high <br /> school. Wings D and E will need to be cleaned once it is <br /> accepted. Mrs. Lynch stressed that the school Building <br /> Committee should be responsible for the custodial charges of <br /> our their budget. Dr. DeMoura said the school Building <br /> Committee pays for the expenses j.ncurred, not the salaries. <br /> Dr. DeMoura expressed concern over security. <br /> Ms. Macdonald asked about custodial charges for August 24, <br /> August 31, and September 7 . Dr a DeMou -a will follow-up. <br /> Sidney Golub asked if the school Department has invoiced the <br /> School Building Committee for the salary expenses Dar. <br /> DeMoura said that that will be done. , <br /> 6.5 High school Portfolio Program - Ted o f ourke - Mr. <br /> O'Rourke addressed the Committee on highschool -portfolio <br /> program in which beginning in Grade 7, all students will <br /> also work on -their portfolios. The students can work on <br /> them with other students as well as teachers. The <br /> portfolios will be carried by the students from year-to-year <br /> and during their senior year, it will become a showcase <br /> portfolio. Mar. o f Rourke said grading will be done on a <br /> four-point scale with a 1'1 given when an assignment needs <br />
