Mr. <br /> `Rourke explained the reason for these topics is because <br /> these appear in the curriculum frameworks and other national <br /> guides for mathematics,, <br /> Mir. Paxton asked if the portfolio work would be considered <br /> whendeter-mining a student's placement in the class Mr. <br /> O <br /> `Rourke answered that the' portfoli is just one of man <br /> factors when determining a students f s grade. <br /> 6*6 FY97 Grants - Included in the packet was the remainder <br /> of the F 97 grants. They included Special Education <br /> Entitlement, Special Education Allocation, PALMS, Title VI <br /> (Chapter II , Eisenhower, Title I {Chapter I , safe and <br /> Drug-Free schools, Goals Zoo-study Groups, Health <br /> Protection .Allocation,: Early Childhood-Community <br /> Partnerships, ,Massachusettts Performance Assessment, and <br /> Indian Education. <br /> Ms. Macdonald questioned how $149,000 in Title I is <br /> utilized. Dr. DeMoura said it pairs the salaries of three <br /> teachers and 1.5 teacher assistants. <br /> 6.7 Medicaid Reimbursements - Dr. DeMoura reported that <br /> $21,905 in claims have been transferred for the quarter <br /> ending September 30, 1996. The Town of Mashpee -has received <br /> $2501,684 . <br /> 6 .8 Enrollments - Dr. DeMoura said there are currently <br /> 1,868 total students in ps-Grade 12, 522 at Coombs; 411 <br /> Middle school; 317, Kemen rr school; 384 , Mashpeei h <br /> g <br /> School; and 234 Falmouth High School. Cape Cod Tech <br /> enrollments total 480- <br /> At this point, Dr. DeMoura asked the Committee f s permission <br /> to hire a full-time teaching assistant ' for the alternative <br /> education program to ommence in January, 1997 * After some <br /> discussion on this issue, Mrs. Lynch, once again, asked to <br /> set up a budget meeting to - discuss the FY97 budget. A <br /> meeting was set for Thursday, December 19, 1996 at 7 :00 p.m. <br /> in the High School Meeting , 1 oom. <br />
