School Committee special Meeting - February 24, 1997 <br /> 7" <br /> Page Two <br /> In-school suspension Person at the High school <br /> Alternative education program-at the elementary level: 1 for system <br /> Additional special education teachers and support staff at all levels: <br /> Minimum of I additional SPED teacher and 1 additional SPED <br /> assistant at each school <br /> Full time kindergarten assistants <br /> Copy Room clerk support at all levels: .5 at KCC, Quashnet Valley and <br /> Quashnet River Schools <br /> Substitute coverage for all Unit C personnel. <br /> Music teacher to cover general music classes K-6 previously covered by the <br /> Quashnet schools and High school music teachers. <br /> Mrs. Cook suggested working down to a bottom line figure and go through the <br /> budget without making any "threats." <br /> Ills. Macdonald said, "The last thing I wart to do is cut staff. I don't think it's <br /> necessary." <br /> Dr. DeMoura suggested prioritizing the school needs as has been done last <br /> year. He went on to explain these needs 'should begin in the classroom and <br /> more outward towards support services: <br /> 1 Students <br /> 2) Teacher <br /> 3 Utilities <br /> 4 Transportation <br /> 5) Compliance with mandated programs <br /> 6) Compliance with special education programs <br /> 7) Instructional materials <br /> 8) Support staff (including some mandated support staff <br /> 9) Extra--curricular programs <br /> 10 other <br />
