Macdonald, to approve <br /> request as long as there is no charge to the school system. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> 7.14 School Suspensions - Discussion took place regarding school <br /> suspensions. Mrs. Cook asked, "What does it take to suspend a student <br /> for smoking?" Mr. Williams answered that the student must he "caught <br /> in the act.." <br /> .15 Under-]Rerforming Schools - In a mer orandfrom Commissioner <br /> Antonucci to the Board of Education, he has made three proposals which <br /> address "under-performance" and "chronic under-lerf orrrxmace" as <br /> authored by the Education l eforrn Act. Dr. I; eMour-a explained the <br /> three proposals. <br /> Mrs. Cook commented that the Legislative Committee had asked for <br /> School Committee reaction to under-performing schools. <br /> At this point in the meeting 10:00 p.m.), per School Committee policy a <br /> motion was made by Mr-s. cook, seconded by Mrs. Mills, to continue the <br /> meeting until 10:30 p.m. <br /> VOTE: In favor - Mrs. Cook, Mr. Paxton, Mrs. Mills, and Nis.
