AS IP E SCHOOL COMMITTEE - REGULAR MEETING ` APRIL 2, 1997 PAGE 7 <br /> 7.7 Evaluation ofSummer Reading_ Pp-gram - At the last regular meeting, <br /> Mrs. Phyllis Sprout has asked for details of the Summer leading <br /> Program. Director of Instruction Patricia Parolski outlined her mem <br /> dated March 27 . <br /> Ms. Macdonald asked for additional books for the Grade 9 students. <br /> Mrs. Parolski will review. <br /> Mrs. Sprout said there had been a miscommunication at the last meeting <br /> and she had requested ars update of the "Summer School" Program, not <br /> the Summer Reading List. Dr. DeMoura recommended that all requests <br /> made to school department personnel be made in writing to avoid <br /> possible future miscommunications. <br /> Mrs. Lynch asked for a reading list for the gifted program. Mrs. Parolski <br /> ill provide one. <br /> 7.8 Huh School Lunch Proms - As discussed earlier, Dr. IeMoura will <br /> review the high school program. <br /> 7.9 CityZTown Data,Sheet - As an info rnational piece, Dr. I ell oura <br /> explained a data sleet that freaks down the number of foster children <br /> placed in foster homes in 1 lashpee. <br /> 7.10 student Testing Pro ams - Dr. DeMoura said the CTBT post-testing will <br /> not be administered in grades 4 and 8 this year. Ms. Macdonald asked, <br /> "Why?" r. I eMoura responded that all the testing would be too much <br /> for the students to endure. <br /> Discussion followed between Mrs. Lynch and Director of Instruction Mrs. <br /> Parolski regarding allowing parents to obtain test results. Mrs. Parolski <br /> said she would infor parents of the test that will be giver, however, <br /> parents will not he receiving thein results. Mrs. Lynch felt it was "a waste <br /> of time" in taking the tests and not receiving the results. <br /> 7.11 certificate of M ste Dr. I eMoura described the Certificate of Mastery <br /> to the Committee as outlined 'in the memorandum from the <br /> Commissioner. The Certificate of Mastery will signify that a particular <br /> student has demonstrated mastery of a holy of skiffs, competencies and <br /> knowledge comparable to that possessed by graduates of high schools in <br />
