S <br /> Page <br /> Mashpee School Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> May 13, 1997 <br /> I V, David Velesig requested the School Cornnnittee give consideration to the <br /> Public job description of Athletic Director, and appoint a certified teacher with <br /> Forum experience in the field interscholastic athletics. The newly appointed <br /> Athletic Director should report directly to the High School Principal <br /> suggested Mr. Velesig. <br /> In addition, the Athletic Director should-evaluate our coaches, and <br /> work ire harmony to create a strong constructive athletic program for <br /> the Town of Mashpee recommended Mr. Velesig. <br /> In other business, Richard Holmquist requested the Committee not require <br /> nor institute a grade one age admission slate. It was noted that students <br /> entering the kindergarten program must be five gears of age on or before <br /> August 31, of the school year during which they wish to enroll, to be <br /> eligible to eater Idndergarten in September. <br /> Mr. Holmquist suggested the Committee allow students to be tested <br /> for admission into the first grade elementary program. Mr. Holmquist <br /> noted that his son is presently 5.5 gears of age, and is attending a private <br /> kindergarten program. <br /> The above utter will be further discussed as an agenda topic. <br /> Mrs. Lynch made note of the following acknowledgments; <br /> Acknowledg- <br /> ments 5 <br /> no ledg- <br /> ent .1 willowbend Children's Charity Grant <br /> $3,500 for High School Uniforms <br /> 'Tetter of Appreciation to Willowbend <br /> 5.2 Grades 4- 6 Spelling Bee winners <br /> KCC- Rhiannon McCuish <br /> QRS -Dana Leahy <br /> QVS -Kathy Frain <br /> 5.3 Career ars; March 12 and March 26, 1997 <br /> Appreciation to Maureen Colescott and Cheryl Maclntire <br /> 5.4 Ability Awareness - Kristin Daly <br /> .5 Elementary School for 1n-School Concerts <br /> Appreciation to Music Teachers <br /> 5.6 Grade one- Salute to Reading <br /> Appreciation for Grandparents Day <br /> 5.7 Science Fair Participants <br /> High School - March 22, 1997 <br /> Elementary Schools - March 2 , 1997 <br />
