Budget - Dr. DeMoura explained currently there is $38,536.45 <br /> encumbered with $24,000 for electricity and $3,000 for telephone costs.. <br /> That will leave approximately $10,000 left to return to the town's general <br /> unci. The intercom system at the Quashnet Kiger School is included in <br /> the encumbrance figure. <br /> 7.5 Out-of-School Suspensions - June 1997 -- Mr. Bock informed the <br /> Committee of,June's out-of-school suspensions noting that a number o <br /> student disciplinary problems have resulted in suspensions from school. <br /> Motion made by Ms. Macdonald, seconded by Mr. Paxton, to move into <br /> executive session at :30 p.m. to discuss collective bargaining strategy <br /> and potential litigation. The School Committee will reconvene in public <br /> session. <br /> RoU Call vote: In favor - Mrs. Lynch, Mrs. Cool, ATMs. Macdonald, Mrs. <br /> Mills, Mr. Paxton; opposed - none. <br /> The meeting reconvened at :30 p.m. <br /> 7. Facilities Deport - Discussed earlier in the meeting. <br /> 7.7 House Report - Special Education -- Dr. DeMoura gave ars outline o <br /> this report. In January, House Speaker 'Thomas Finneran created <br /> Working Group to review special Education and male recommendations <br /> to improve the delivery of special education programs to'children with <br /> disabilities. Dr. DeMoura explained the summary of the Mouse Report as <br /> follows: <br /> rereferral and related educational services: Provides for teacher <br /> training and requires that curriculum be adjusted in the regular <br /> education classroom to accommodate students with varying learning <br /> styles and abilities. recommendations are structured to increase the <br /> regular education capacity to address all students' educational needs. <br /> Funding for the Department of Education is increased to provide <br /> additional monitoring and technical assistance to school,districts in <br /> special education. <br /> Foster Care: provides funding to local school districts that provide <br />
