Absent were Janice Mills and Maryanne Macdonald. Also in <br /> attendance was Dr. Lincoln A. Iefloura. <br /> Board of Selectmen: Chairman George Costa, Curtis Frye, Kenneth Marsters, <br /> Peter ] lnlzio, and Nancy Cafyn. Also in attendance was Executive Secretary <br /> Robert Whritenour, Jr. <br /> Guests: Senator Henri Rauschen ach, Representative Thomas Cahir, and <br /> Associate Commissioner of Education Hick Fischer. <br /> The joint meeting was called to order by Mrs. Lynch at 7:10 p.m. in the <br /> Quashnet Schools' cafetoriurn. <br /> Mrs. Lynch outlined the purpose ose of tonight's meeting stating that at a meeting <br /> held last week with Mr. Whritenour, Mrs. Caffyn and others brainstormed on <br /> efforts regarding increasing the Educational Reform funding formula for <br /> Mashpee. <br /> Mrs. Lynch introduced Nor. Whritenour- who highlighted topics mentioned at <br /> that meeting. They were the following: Low Income - median family and per <br /> capita; High Growth -- population growth, school enrollments, building activity, <br /> space - developable le acres remaining in Mashpee; approvable lots; Composition <br /> of Population - high number of children as a percentage of total population - <br /> tre "young Town"; DroR in Town Value - from 1980s conomi downturn - <br /> reduction in total assessed valuation; High UnemploM n ; High Debt; Growth f <br /> in Property Faxes - property taxes as a percentage of median family income; <br /> High Cost of Living on Cape.Cod - .measure cost of living index against other <br /> areas of the State; Need for New Infrastructure - use data from the Capital <br /> Improvement Plan, stress deferred capital spending; and Gro with In All Areas of <br /> Town Services - road mileage, public safety runs With police and fire/EMS, <br /> library circulation, leisure services growth. <br />
