After explaining this
document, Mr. Whritenour said there wiffl be a shortfall of $2,727,706.41 next
year if all Town department requests are granted.
After Mr. Whrite Tour's presentation, Mrs. Lynch asked for a bottom line figure
r- the school department's FY99 budget. She was told. a figure has not been
deter fined as yet by either the Board of Selectmen or the Finance Committee.
Dr. DeMoura was thea introduced and gave his presentation describing graphs
entitled, `Budget Comparisons," "October 1. Enrollments," "Budget Dollars,"
"Per Pupil Costs," `Special Education Expenditures," "School Budget FY9 " and
FY99 School Budget." 'These graphs indicated that growth"in the school
budget is due to increased enrollments, an additional grade at the high school
i
(Grade 11) and the ever-increasing special education costs.
Although the school department is requesting an additional $2,000,000 for
their FY99 budget, Mrs. Cook noted that Mashpee will be spending
approximately $500,000-less in FY99 on tuition costs to Falmouth High School.
Thus, the approximate school department request for FY99 is $1,500,000.
