With that <br /> in mind, with the recommendation of $11,100,000 by the Selectmen and <br /> Finance Committee, the per pupil expenditure would go down. <br /> Dr. DeMoura noted that the education ref ori formula, as agreed by all, is <br /> flawed. lir. Whritenour, during his presentation, used that flared formula to <br /> make some comparisons and thus his numbers were misleading. <br /> Dr. DeMoura detailed the "Comparison of FY99 Budget Proposals" chart <br /> (Exhibit C). <br /> Mrs. Lynch noted that monies would he available from the "pothole" money, <br /> $500,000; Falmouth High School tuition reduction (Grade 12 only) $500,000; <br /> Governor's proposed revenues, $600,000. <br /> Mr. Whritenour cautioned against appropriating monies in the School <br /> Department budget that currently are not available. Mrs. Lynch asked when <br /> would he know when these monies he available? Mr. Whritenour responded <br /> "by June at the latest." <br /> Although Mr. Costa stressed that cuts must be made in order to facilitate <br /> 11.,10 0.7 0 0 0 Y Mrs. Lynch countered that "there are no more programs to cut." <br /> Mrs. Cook added that the School Committee worked eery hard on this budget <br /> since July of fast year and complied with the requests of the Selectmen and in <br /> order to maintain the current programs at $11,100,000, cuts will have to he <br /> made. <br /> Mr. Costa said the selectmen have agreed with the Fin nce Committee of a <br /> recomm n lation of $11,100,000, however, he stated he would corn mit himself <br /> to any additional funds to the School Department. <br /> Mr. Watt asked Mrs. Lynch if the School Department could work with <br /> $11,500,000 as a figure. Mrs. Lynch responded that that is unknown now and <br /> could have to he researched. <br /> Discussion continued on ramifications of cuts, Town Meeting strategy, cuts by <br /> other torn departments. <br /> joint meeting was scheduled for March 23, 1 at 6:30 p.m. in 'Torn HaA. <br />
