Elizabeth Petti, <br /> Mary Rose Grady, Donna McCaffery, Barbara Kashar, Karen Berube, Ted <br /> o'Rourke, 1laura Manning, Cheryl M cJntire, Alyssa Hufn gel, Ellen Davis, <br /> Lucinda McKay, Sandy Balsehre, Sandra Dawes, Vickie Kelly, Parr Pornetti, <br /> Sharon Balzarini <br /> Mrs. Lynch called the 3oint mce ting to order at 7:10 p.m. in the Quashnet <br /> Schools' Library. <br /> After the School Councils accepted the minutes of their Joint meeting of <br /> January 8, 1998, Mr. Feldman discussed the reorganization and equity in the <br /> schools. <br /> Mr. Tippo thanked the School Committee for their efforts during the recent <br /> joint meeting with the Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee stating the <br /> budget recommendations were "not good enough." He went on to say that the <br /> reorganization concept is working well and should be left alone. <br /> Mrs. Mills briefly discussed the upcoming Massachusetts Comprehensive <br /> Assessment System (MCAS) tests and the negative reports generated in the <br /> media. <br /> Mrs. Lynch discussed the reorganization and equity, in general, among the <br /> schools. She said although the Committee has been criticized for its <br /> questioning the reorganization concept, questions_ ill continue to be asked to <br /> ensure all kids in all schools have equity. Discussion followed on class size <br /> with lowering the class sizes in grades 2 and ; suggestion made to increase <br /> the number of teaching assistants. <br />
