s MASH SCHOOL COMMITTEE - JOINT MEETING WITH BOARD of SELECTMEN AND FINANCE COMMITTEE -• MARCH 3o, 1998 - PAGE 2 The $11,600,000 figure includes $450,000 in additional state aid earmarked for Mashpee in Governor Clluci's proposed budget, however, that budget has not been approved by the House or Serrate. If the House and/or Senate cut the Govemor's proposed budget, Mr, vhritenour said Mashpee will face one of three scenarios: 1. approve a Proposition 2-1/2 override to provide the additional funds; 2. cut budgets; 3. use funds anticipated this fall that would otherwise be used to a lower a tax rate increase of 13.5%. As part of the compromise for the $11,600,000 FY99 figure, the School Committee agreed with a suggestion made by Mr. batt that the schools share of the burden `o any potential budget reductions with other town departments. Also, if the Governor's request for additional aid for Mashpee is cut, the amount of the reduction will be evenly split between the schools and the town.
