M <br /> _ r <br /> MASH EE SCHOOL COMMITTEE '- JOINT MEETING WITH BOARD of <br /> SELECTMEN AND LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL -- MARCH 3 , <br /> 1998 - PAGE 3 <br /> Leisure Services Advisory Council - Leisure Services Director Gus Frederick, <br /> Chairman of Leisure Services Advisory Council Sheila Arnold, Patricia <br /> Antonelfis. <br /> Selectmen Chairman George Costa asked for the purpose of this joint meeting. <br /> Mrs. Arnold explained some of the problems regarding scheduling of the school <br /> buildings. As a result, there have been a reduction in the programs offered by <br /> Leisure Services as well as a reduction in the number of classrooms being <br /> used. She said the buildings are being opened up on time. <br /> School Committee Liaison to the Leisure Services Advisory Council Mrs. Cook <br /> said Leisure Services has spent more time on scheduling for the programs but <br /> not providing better results. She asked to revisit the Joint Agreement dravm <br /> up between the Board of Selectmen, School Committee and Leisure Services <br /> several years ago to discuss scheduling. She also suggested returning to the <br /> Community School concept. <br /> Mr. Costa thought these issues are surfacing too late and he, personally, is not <br /> willing to change the Joint Agreement statim, "I'm disappointed."ointed. e then <br /> directed Mr. whritenour to work with the School Committee and the Leisure <br /> Services Advisory Council to resolve any outstanding issues. <br /> Mrs. Cook mentioned to the Selectmen they had agreed to revisit the <br /> community use,,agreement on a periodic basis. Stating that the groups have <br /> spent much time on scheduling, Mrs. Cook suggested the Selectmen review the <br /> minutes of the Leisure Services Advisory Council on a regular basis. <br /> Adjournment - On a motion by Ms. Macdonald, seconded by Mr. Paxton, the <br /> joint meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> t <br /> Marjorie R.
