3. Request for Variance Relief from Recreational Camp Regulation — Lifeguard: Mashpee Village
Summer Camp.
Glen Harrington commented that a request has been made to allow a 15-year old lifeguard to act as the
camp's lifeguard for Mashpee Village Summer Camp. The individual will turn 16 during the summer. The newly
released regulations of 2018 now require the lifeguard to be 16 years of age when the previous regulations had
no age requirement.
Laurel Almquist made a motion that the Board of Health approve the variance relief from 105 CMR 430.103
regarding a lifeguard being 16 years of age for Mashpee Village Summer Camp. This variance pertains to the
2018 year only. Brian Baumgaertel seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.
4. Request to Amend May 10, 2018, BOH Decision from Recreational Camp Regulation — Mashpee
Village Summer Camp.
The Board approved this variance at the May 10, 2018, Board of Health meeting for 36 campers at Mashpee
Village Summer Camp. Two additional families are now working so four additional children have signed up for
summer camp. This raises the request to 40 campers for 2018. All of the campers live on site so bathroom
conveniences are not an issue.
Laurel Almquist made a motion that the Board of Health approve the variance for Mashpee Village Summer
Camp with the same conditions as last year to have a maximum of 40 campers and this variance applies to the
2018 year only. Brian Baumgaertel seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.
5. Request for 2018 Seasonal Retail Food Permit: Mad Good Cookie— Popponesset Marketplace.
Glen Harrington remarked that a request for a 2018 Retail Food Permit has been submitted for a small shop in
the Popponesset Marketplace. Mad Good Cookie is a cookie company from New Bedford. The cookies are
made in a licensed food establishment, packaged, frozen, and then brought to Cape Cod. These will be kept in
a freezer at the retail store and then displayed in the morning for sale.
Laurel Almquist made a motion that the Board of Health approve the 2018 Retail Food Permit for Mad Good
Cookie located at the Popponesset Marketplace. Brian Baumgaertel seconded the motion. The motion was
unanimously approved.
6. Request for 2018 Mobile Food Permit: Mangia Food Truck.
Mr. Harrington stated that a request for a 2018 Mobile Food Permit has been submitted for Mangia Food Truck
located in Kingston, Massachusetts. The owner wishes to attend several events within Mashpee so he
requested a mobile permit to cover the truck for the, year. The truck has been inspected, and the menu, fee,
Servsafe and Allergy Awareness Certificates have all been provided.
Laurel Almquist made a motion that the Board of Health approve the 2018 Mobile Food permit for Mangia Food
Truck located at Naukabout Brewery in Mashpee. Brian Baumgaertel seconded the motion. The motion was
unanimously approved.
7. Request One-Time Fee for Temporary Food Permit: Cape Cod Chef on Call (Naukabout
Brewery).
Mr. Harrington commented that a request for a Temporary Food Permit has been submitted for Cape Cod Chef
on Call. The Temporary Food Permit was submitted for use at Naukabout Brewery, but the owner has
requested a one-time annual permit for other events. The Servsafe Certificate was provided; however the
Allergy Awareness Certificate was requested but not yet furnished.
Laurel Almquist made a motion that the Board of Health continue discussion for the Temporary Food Permit for
Cape Cod Chef on Call to the next Board of Health meeting scheduled on June 21, 2018, so that the Allergy
Awareness Certificate can be provided and the application is to be fully completed. Brian Baumgaertel
seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.
4
