MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE- REGULAR MEETING' DECEMBER l, 1998 PAGE <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> 7.6 Telephone Mr. MacDonald acknowledged recent corn lam' is <br /> regarding the telephone system in the Superintendent's office. He <br /> said he would contact the telephone service vendor and research <br /> possibilities of how to improve the telephone service. He will also <br /> obtain a cost analysis. <br /> Mrs. cook asked. the Committee if Jan 'Tkac yk from Cape Cod Tech <br /> could do her presentation at this time. The Committee approved. <br /> .2 Joint Exploratory Program Agreement from Cale Cod Tech - <br /> .Jan Tkac - Cape Cod 'Tech's Guidance Director Jan 'Tkaczyk <br /> addressed the Committee on the Joint Exploratory Program in <br /> which students would ' receive two hours a day of <br /> Vocational/technical education at cape cod 'Tech as a supplement <br /> to their regular education program at Mashpee. This program was <br /> discussed and questions asked regarding transportation. High_ <br /> School principal Mr. Williams and Mashpee High School guidance <br /> counselor Mrs. Kraskouskas will investigate this program further. <br /> Regarding the concerns of 1lashpee High School students on a <br /> waiting list at Cape Cod 'Tech, Mrs. Tkac yk wiR make ars effort to. <br /> increase enrolments currently on that waiting list. This will be <br /> placed on the January ary agenda. <br /> 7.7 MCAS Update - 'Trish Parolli Mrs. Parolski addressed the <br /> Committee on the MCAS tests. She outlined a calendar of MCAS <br /> events and said llashpee scores will be released on December 9. <br /> Also a parent meeting has leen scheduled January 14that :30 i <br /> the High School. <br /> 7.8 Out-of-State Conference - Mrs, Parols i requested <br /> permission for out-of-state travel for a guidance counselor to attend <br /> a conference in California. Registration fee will be provided by the <br /> Safe Schools grant while the air fare costs will need to be funded <br /> through the regular budget. Mrs. Cook noted there is money in the <br /> Out-of-State Professioxial Development line item. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. MiRs, seconded by Mr. Paxton, to approve the <br /> out-of-state travel request with funding to be taken from Out-of- <br /> State Professional Development. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> 7.9 November Suspensions - Mr. MacDonald reviewed the High <br /> School Out of School suspensions and Saturday School Office <br /> Detentions for November. *There were a total of 14 suspensions <br />
