r <br /> I <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES - REGULAR SESSION <br /> MONDAY, AUGUST 159 1988 <br /> PRESENT: Selectmen Gottlieb, Manson, Jacobson and carter and <br /> Executive Secretary Joseph Murphy <br /> GUESTS: - Sergeant William Ethler, Steven Rurce l i � <br /> Selectmen Gott 1 i eb convened the meeting at 7:05 p.ren; <br /> MINUTES <br /> Mr* Hanson moved to accept an amendment to thoJuno 1A, 1%, im <br /> and to accept the Regular and Executive Session fninutes of August 9, <br /> 1988 with an amendment to New Business, Item #1 , paragraph 2 which <br /> was unclear and to be resolved at a future meeting. Mrs. Jacobson <br /> seconded the motion. Mr* Gottlieb was in favor and Mr. Carter was <br /> not present for the vote. <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> 11 Sergeant W i ] 1 i ail Eth i er appeared before the Board to discuss <br /> the Police Department building expansion. Gaffney <br /> Architects had originally estimated approximately 13,000 <br /> square feet, but that estimate had been understated and the <br /> total square feet required would be IS, . <br /> Sgt. Ethier explained that the current space is inadequate for <br /> the current and future needs of the Department. Mr. <br /> Gottlieb asked hors long the space was designed to <br /> last for the needs of the Department. Sgt, Eth i er stated <br /> that in 1 - 12 years. they PrQJect a 50 man r- and the <br /> space wou 1 d handle this and more. <br /> The Board decided to look to Selectman Hanson for advice and to <br /> -place the issue on the agenda in two weeks. <br /> OLD BUSIES <br /> 11 Mrs. - Jacobson reported to the Board that the Attaqu 1 n Park <br /> Committee ret on Saturday, August 13, 1988_ The results <br /> were that the Committee accepted the prospect of having the <br /> beach staffed as possible, a1wa s having a minimum of two <br /> staff people. A lifeguard and one gate attendant will b <br /> assigned. If a lifeguard cannot be there, there will be <br /> two oate att end ants Veh f c I e5 w i t houg5 w j I <br /> be referred to the Police Department on their regular <br /> patrols of the beach. <br />
