5 • Board of Selectmen Minutes February 25; 2002 APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: Public Hearing Continued—VFW Liquor License: Selectman Leveille stepped down for the above referenced Hearing. Selectman Marsters motioned to open and to continue the Public Hearing on the application of Mashpee Veterans of Foreign War,Inc., d/b/a Mashpee Memorial VFW Post 5489,Alice Gibbons,Manager, for a Veterans Club Annual All Alcohol License at property described as: 6,500 square foot restaurant and bar facility located at 470 Main Street, Mashpee. Motion seconded by Selectman Green. VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. Selectman Leveille, Selectman Taylor absent. It was noted that all necessary paperwork is in order for the Selectmen's approval. All pending issues were met by the applicant and approved by • the Building Inspector, Fire Department and Board of Health. Robert Mills, Esq. Wynn&Wynn, P.C.was present to discuss the license application on behalf of the Mashpee Veterans of Foreign War, Inc., Mashpee Memorial VFW Post 5489. Alice Gibbons, Manager of Record was also in attendance. Attached to the annual all alcoholic license application was a request for entertainment, live and recorded music, amplification system, and dancing by patrons only. Presently, there are (5 1) members of the VFW Post in Mashpee. All members must have served in an overseas conflict for membership. The club was deemed private for members and their guests. Approval of said application would not authorize the VFW to operate a restaurant open to the public. Under general laws, the club may be licensed to sell beverages to its members only, and to guests introduced by its members. The use of the establishment as a function hall is also limited to its members and their guests. Plans for the facility depict a 200 seat restaurant in addition to a separate • club seating area. With the Selectmen's approval, the VFW has proposed to serve a dinner menu in its larger dining area on Wednesdays only.
