r • <br /> TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> August 1, 1991 <br /> Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> Members present: John T. Doherty, George R. Costa and <br /> Stephen J. Greelish <br /> THE TAPE IS NOT PART OF THE MEETING IT IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br /> TRANSCRIPTION ONLY. <br /> Mr. John T. Doherty, Chairman <br /> 1. ) Warrants signed <br /> 2. ) Mr. Costa motioned to accept the minutes of July 18, <br /> 1991, Mr. Greelish seconded, all agreed. <br /> Jerry Monaghan - Recycling <br /> Mr. Monaghan was in attendance to discuss current recy- <br /> cling procedures. <br /> Mr. Monaghan relayed daily monitoring of recyclables is <br /> going well. "If the recycling area is limited to three days <br /> per week as proposed it will discourage area residents. " "A <br /> barrier will be placed in front of the bins to discourage <br /> residents from disposing of the recyclables directly into the <br /> bins. " Mr. Monaghan stated there has been no contamination <br /> of the bins for the last two weeks. ' <br /> Mr. McQuaid stated Mr. Schutz did relay the plastics bin <br /> was not recyclable due to contamination. <br /> Mr. Greelish stated, due to the town's financial con- <br /> straints and lack of volunteers we are unable to open the re- <br /> cycling area all six days. "In order for the recycling pro- <br /> gram to function properly the area must be monitored." <br /> Mr. Monaghan stated he was contacted by the V.F.W. who <br /> expressed interest in monitoring the recycling area for the <br /> remaining three days. <br /> Board members agreed to permit the volunteers to monitor <br /> the recycling area however, the recycling ,area .will be lim- <br /> ited to three days per week until volunteers can commit them- <br /> selves to cover the area 8 hours per days three days per <br /> week. <br />
