MINUTES March 9, 2000 4 BOARD of HEALTH <br /> paying for the Otis Transfer Station to open up at a time when they normally would <br /> e closed. Mr. McQuaid stated that he will do whatever the Board instructs him t <br /> do, however, he is not sure that anyone can predict what the situation is going to <br /> be each weekend. <br /> Mr. Ball stated that he was under the impression that there would be no charge to <br /> IVlshe to open the Otis Transfer Station on Sundays. He then asked Mr. <br /> McQuaid to further investigate the possible openings of the Otis Transfer Station <br /> and any fee related to this, <br /> . I a - s-You-Throw <br /> Discussion took place between Mr. Ball and Stephanie domes of the Recycling <br /> ConuTiittee regarding a pay-as-you-throw program. Mr. full indicated that he has <br /> been informed by ars individual that they are looking into this program. Ms. Jones <br /> stated that she would like to know who this individual is in order to work with <br /> them on such a program. Mr. full stated that he has been asked to keep this <br /> individual's name quiet for the time being. Ms. Jones was upset by this <br /> concealment. <br /> Watershed Management committee <br /> Ms. Beverly Kane and Mr. Edward Baker were in attendance for this unscheduled <br /> appointment. <br /> a. IVIS. Kane questioned the Board about a monitoring program to track the <br /> municipal, commercial and private denitrification units that have been installed <br /> i . the Town. She stated that her comr .ittee would be willing to provide <br /> volunteers to do the work if the Board of Health would allover theca access to <br /> their files. <br /> Mr. McQuaid stated that he has requested an intern from the Barnstable <br /> Counter Department of Health and the Environment but hasn't heard back from <br /> them. They had previously offered the assistance of an intern to go through the <br /> files and gather the data. Mr. McQuaid further indicated that the Board o <br /> Health had begun the data collection as recently as this geek but would <br /> appreciate ars y offers of help. <br /> Ir. Ball told IVIS. Kane that he would support therm in their-endeavors to gather <br /> f this data from the Board of Health files. <br /> . Ms. Kane expressed concerm regarding wa uoit Bay and Popponesset Ba, <br /> watersheds and requested that the Board consider designating these yeas as <br /> nitrogen sensitive em ayments. She further requested that the Board of Health <br /> and the watershed Management Committee begin to initiate discussioiis on this <br /> matter. <br /> Ir. Ball indicated that he would support this action. <br /> Mr. McQuaid stated that he would like to see the Cape cod Commission come <br /> to the Board of Health with draft delineation and that he,would send a letter to <br /> the Commission regarding this matter. <br />
