TOWN OF 1 ASB PEE BOARD OF HEALTH January 30, 1997 Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present: Robert F. Cram, Sr., Steven R. Ball and John T. Coof letter to D.E.P. are: Au at remediation - Mr. McQuaid relayed, "At our last meeting we received several letters of concern from residents and organizations regarding the proposed Augat remediation." "In particular their concerned about letting 00' of plume discharge into Shoestring Bay." "They propose to pump and treat at the 1500 . nark from theirplant." "It was directed by the Board to send hese letters to the I .E.P. asking them to take these concerns into their consideration and also to set up a public comment meeting here in 1 lashpee." "I have yet to hear from the I .E.P.." "Since that meeting Mr. Evans and I met with Mr. Frigon and Mr. Rothschild."' `They basically went through their latest report which is a three volume report which was submitted to X .E.P. on the day that we got it." "They explained to Mr. Evans and I how they had lured AZA to do a risk assessment not only human risk assessment but ecological risk assessment on Shoestring Bay.' `Their conclusion in their opinion is that letting the remainder of the plume discharge into Shoestring Bay would not have a negative affect on either shellfish, ecology or human health." "This memo went out before our meeting with Augat and we're hoping the D.E.P. will be aware of the communities concern to the p � Dint where the will Mold a.public meeting in Mashpee for public input.' "we were also informed that under this type of circumstance unlike the Mass. Military Reservation this is an individual situation where the individual company is responding to the I .E.P.," "There is no provision in the law that requires the D.E.P. to hold a public comment meeting however, I arra still hopeful haat the I .E.P. will concede to our request."
