Selectman Thomas stated that- a Conservation Group <br /> would be ava-ilable my .l, and the areas listed are: ohnI Pond, <br /> Mashpee/wakeby, South cape Beach - this will be done on allocated <br /> time. <br /> Member. of the Press asked that in order for . a beach to be certified, <br /> does it have. to comply with State Sanitary Code? Mr. Buckingham <br /> stated that he was not sure but at one - time, an accredited .bathing <br /> beach shall be a public bathing beach or a. portion thereof, or semi- <br /> public bathing beach, or 'portion thereof, which complies with article <br /> of the State Sanitary Code , and is licensed a an accredited bathing <br /> beach by the Board of Health. <br /> Selectman Garland asked the recreation '-Dire for what the story was <br /> with his lifeguards. recreation Director stated that he dial not <br /> have enough money to pay the lifeguards for this weekend. He had <br /> already spoken to the TownAccountant and- planned to meet with the <br /> Finance Committee on Monday night, June 30th. Mr. <br /> Norman said es , but if someone drowns, it' s less of a hazard having <br /> no lifeguards and put a sign down there stating No Lifeguards on <br /> Duty. " Selectman Garland stated that he knew of some beaches were <br /> signs were posted and the hours of duty - if one, chose to swim other <br /> than posted hours, it was - t their own risk. Brad stated that he <br /> was in the process of haying signs made up, however, he felt <br /> Maintenance should be responsible for putting up the signs <br /> Selectman Garland stated that he felt that the responsibility to <br /> determine, if in fact a sign is needed, what the sign should say, <br /> belong hire - and he should come to the Board to get the signs <br /> made.
