i
x '
.y
r
group has been trying to acculmulate figures' for an energy
audit put out by the' 'Mass'achusetts. Dear- merit o f, Energy, They
are requiring a tremendous volute 'of information with regards
to- numbe-r' of kilowatt hours , . gallons of gasoline, etc. , and
because of our accounting. procedures , it is going to be
suggested that perhaps the Finance Committee, Town Accountant,
and the' Board of selectmen got together to establish a new
procedure for next year' s budget where possibility being that
each department will be required to lime item budget their cost
of gasoline, electric and gas power and establish a financial
procedure once the Finance Committee has had their- comments
to agree or disagree, then all gas purchasing will be out of
one account. If we have to go through this procedure that we
are going through right now, it is doing to be' a monumental task,
every - year and you might ars well forget it. I think we should
get together- one of these days and discuss the mechanics of this
thing.
Member of Press asked who is .ordering this.
vice Chairman responded the State Office of Energy.
Member-of Press asked what the purpose of this is .
Vice Chairman responded that the State lite everyone else, i
concerned with the conservation of energy and they are trying
to encourage conservation. They are asking the various political
agencies to report back on this form the various stews they are
taking to reduce the consumption of energy. They are tieing
this in very nicely with grant monies. For example, if we wanted
to buy all new storm windows for this building, we could apply
for a grant, . At the present time, there is some 15 million
dollars available- but it is nay understanding, that the bulk of
this has been assigned at this point for this year.
Imber of Press asked if we have applied for anything.
Vice hairman ' responded no at this moment,- however, we are in the
process of revamping the heating system here .
Member of Press asked who was in -this group.
Vice Chairman responded Joan, myself, Greg Willis, Jack Volpe,
Helen Kondochriste, Karen Dale, Linda, everybody.
Member of Press asked how lona do you have to do this study.
Vice Chairman responded that it has to be completed today.
Member of Press asked what they were going to do with the results
f roar .lashpee.
Vice Chairman responded nothing, we are only complying with their
request.
{
