Thomas asked if we will- close on S.e -.t mbe -1 -F- .Pr.im r ,a , <br /> and November 4, I ati-onal Election Day, <br /> Chairman stated that we will be closed, requested that proper <br /> notification be given informing that the Town Hall will be closed <br /> for official business but will remain open for voting purposes . <br /> 14, Chairman announced that before the Board is a letter of resignation <br /> from the -Chief of Police. It reads to: <br /> "The Honorable Board of selectmen <br /> Dear -Members: <br /> I hereby submit notice of nay intention to resign nay position/ <br /> appointment as Chief of Police, effective September 27, 1980. <br /> I am confident the effective date of nay resignation will be <br /> convenient to the Board, by providing adequate lead time to <br /> facilitate a smooth administrative transition and assure <br /> the continuation of ongoing projects and programs. <br /> I leave the Mashpee Police Department with a sense of <br /> professional accomplishment, directly attributable to the <br /> efforts of those dedicated men and women within the <br /> organization and those citizens in the community and members- <br /> of <br /> embers- <br /> of local boards who supported nay endeavors during the last <br /> two and one-half years., <br /> Thank you all , I wish you well. <br /> Very truly yours, David J. O'Connor" <br /> Chairman stated that we have received this letter with regret, but <br /> the individual has plans and wants to proceed accordingly. on the <br /> basis of this , -I will wait for a motion relative to ;this letter. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Thomas, seconded by Selectman Garland, to <br /> accept the letter of resignation from the Chief of Police. Declared <br /> a vote by Chairman. <br /> Selectman Garland recommended that the Chairman writea letter of <br /> appreciation to the Chief for his efforts during the past 2 1/2 <br /> years, <br /> Chairman stated that he would and that the letter would come from <br /> all Board members. <br /> 15, Chairman stated that the .Board received a letter from the Chairman, <br /> Personnel Board, relative to hiring sores of the newly appointed <br /> Regular .Police Officers. The letter stated that an error was -made <br /> in calculating the hiring score, which was based upon the written <br /> exam and oral interview, and that they want to see that it' s <br /> rectified. The corrected scones were in the order of: Flynn, <br /> Hendricks and P a lini , they were h i re d as full-time police officers. <br /> _ - <br />
