Fmk
ti
MINUTES. OF ADMINISTRATIVE' MEETING
BOARD OF SELECTMEN
May- 2 ,,- '1 - 1
Present: Chairman Chester Garland, Sel. Jean Thomas , and Executive
Secretary Joseph Murphy
Mr. Garland called the meeting to order at 10 : 00 a.m.
1 Executive Secretary reported that the- first order of business was
setting the amount, of Bond for the Town Clem. He suggested $5 , 000.
Jean Thoma -asked i f that was what it. had been in the past. Af firma
tive.
ay mative. Chan. Garland directed Executive Secretary to go ahead and set
the Bond as recommended.
2 Letter- of interest from Triei l; Executive Secretary stated that if
the Board is- interested, it should come before a regular meeting.
He explained that it is a "trash for cash concept. dean Thomas
stated she had- heard about it at a_ Barnstable Selectmen' s Meeting,
and that Mr. Tomlinson of the company will do a study for the Town
for nothing, provided the Town has a genuine 'Interest. Chm. Gar-
land said h would likee -t get some public input on the proposal.
Sel. Thomas felt the best way to go about that and get the informa-
tion in the paper .is to bring it up in open meeting. Mr. Garland
instructed the Executive Secretary to put it on the agenda for to-
morrow,
Executive Secretary pointed out a letter received by the Board of
Selectmen from the Health Agent, requesting the police cruiser
known as Tango 12 be-1 fferdd -t the Board of 'Health before it is
put up for auction. The- letter points out that this is required b
the Town By-laws. ' Chm. Garland asked if that cruiser wasn' t in
very poor condition, and might be a costly maintenace problem for
the Town. Executive Secretary agreed that it is in very poor con-
dition, Sel Thomas, stated she felt the request should come from the
Board of Health, rather than - their employee. She felt before too
much consideration is given to the request, an estimate of cost of
repairs needed on the vehicle be obtaind. She wondered where the
necessary funds for the repair's would cone from? It would definitely
have to have some repairs to put it in condition to reale it usable.
She reminded the Board that the Board of Health had requested funds
for a vehicle on Town Meeting floor,, and. been turned down. Executive
Secretary- stated theBy-Laws are hazy on the subject - only say the
item has to be "offered" to another town de artment requesting it --
they don' t say item has to be - given to requesting department, He
felt the maintenance appraisal was a good idea; while a vehicle
nicht not be be suitable for 24 hour a day police use-, --,it--,.could con-
' ceiveably be put to good use another department for less stressful
purposes , providing the repaircosts were not too great. Ch . Gar-
lard directed the Executive Secretary to obtain the maintenance
appraisal.
Executive Secretary directed the Board' s attention to the letter from
B rad Norman, stating the 26th of June would be his last day with
the Town. He noted the letter 'required no action.
