i <br /> x <br /> t <br /> 114 <br /> MINUTES OF ADMINIS'T'RATIVE MEETING OF <br /> i <br /> BOARD of SELECTMEN <br /> June 2 , 1981 , <br /> A meeting having been called for Administrative purposes for the <br /> Board of Selectmen at 11 a,m. , the meeting convened with Selectman <br /> Jean Thomas and Executive Secretary Joseph F. Plurhy in attendance . <br /> The Executive Secretary presented a list of the subjects on Whieh._�he ,. . <br /> intended to ]grief the Selectmen. <br /> 1 Mass . Municipal manager' s Association meeting to be held on Thursday <br /> and Friday of this week in Edgartown, Sel. Thomas gave her approval. <br /> Regarding three accidents in the past ten days involving Town vehicles , <br /> the Selectmen knew about the Harbormaster' s, the second oceured when <br /> Engine was Finn-Pinar water out of . pond, and there was a oroblem <br /> with a brake pedal; the Fire De artment claims there is a need for an <br /> extended burner. <br /> When chm-- ,- Garland arrived later, he questioned why the Harbormaster <br /> had to take the state-aiDointed assessor out in the Town' s boat? He <br /> wondered why we ' are providing hire with this service? The Executive <br /> Secretary pointed out that this was a coutesy, and in his opinion a <br /> very appropriate courtesy; we are required to cooperate with the <br /> Assessor, h :`4 -Garland concluded the. ratter was not irmuortant enough <br /> to pursue. <br /> Regarding the Dresentation of - diplomas to graduates of the Oil Spill <br /> Course, the Executive Secretary' pointed out that only one or two of the <br /> four would be able to attend. However, the Selectmen felt it would be <br /> advisable to do ahead with the Drsentation at the Selectmen' s Meeting, <br /> ars yw ay. <br /> Regarding the suggestion of a full-tune recreation Director in seer <br /> and a part time director in winter (during school. year) , Jean Thomas <br /> stated she had contacted the parents of some children who Partici,pate <br /> in the Recreation Program to et their feedback as to the effectiveness <br /> f the program. The majority felt 'it should be continued as it now <br /> exists. <br /> it ' ; _ r '� Y -•:" - -- <br /> 4 <br /> Regarding the proposal to have beach receipts go into the Recreation <br /> Department revolving Fund, rather than into the General Treasurer, the <br /> Selectmen were agreeable to the suggestion. The Executive Secretary <br /> pointed out that these funds 'could not be used to xray wades nor to <br /> purchase equipment, but could be used to purchase supplies. 1t was <br /> pointed out that the port -a-johns should be cleaned more fr quently. <br /> On the 'natter of adapting the old ambulance to a vehicle for the use <br /> of the Recreation De artment,. Sel, Thomas feels this is cxood idea. <br /> Brad Norman had asked for , to purchase a vehicle; with careful <br /> usage this one will serve the purpose for awhile for a $600 investment. <br /> Chan. Garland stated that the appearance would have to be changed, it <br /> can' t be driven around` the Town looking like an ambulance. The Execu- <br /> tive Secretary assured him this <br /> would be done , <br />
