x
r
'# Administrative' Mtg. 7/21/81
Page 2.
4 Mr* Murphy wrought up a matter dealing with the Cabana Club, which
had been brought to the Town' s attention by the state Health Inspector.
It has been reported that the Cabana Club is selling liquor, without
a proper license. Researching the ' selectmen's records , -it appeared
that the Cabana Club was covered by the Popponesset Inn' s license last
year. However, it is not included in the description of premises on
this gear' s license. Also, there are apparently two different managers
of the Inn and the Cabana Club. It does not seem appropriate to take
action this year, .in the middle of the season, the Selectmen agreed.
However, Town Counsel should be contacted by the Executive secretary
to get his opinion, so the situation can be corrected when there is an
application for next year' s license.
Flocks at the Spit -- last week it was decided to replace the rocks with
a police escort, However, the Andrews were in yesterday and talked
to sel.. Thomas, with a recorded copy of an agreement showing that the
spot in question is on land owned by them, and only they should make a
determination regarding the replacing of theocks. Naturally, they
don't want people getting through there, but to avioid more hard feel-
ings ,
eel-
.ings , they are willing to leave the rocks.-where they now are. They
are being harrassed, even though they are within -their legal rights
to have the rocks blocking that path, Chin. Garland' instructed to .the
Executive secretary to do what the. Andrews want done, since it is
their private property. However; he, stated, the Corporation pays
taxes on that property.
Mr. Murphy reported that Dorothy , Carte*r4, the i new};,Inspect ions- Clerk,
may resign, because she claims she is not told. she* would, be doing
any bookkeeping, and she feels` she i not"being paid enough for the
work she is doing. Also, she claims Ms. Lashley is not giving her-
any assistance, Mr. Murphy has asked her to give it a little more time,
before making a decision,
. Chia. Garland asked Mr. Murphy if he is keeping in touch with the
District Attorney' s office regarding the cars that are to be auctioned
off, The Executive secretary will speak to Curtis Frye about this.
hm. Garland stated that according to Mr. Rollins , we stand a- good
chance of getting to keep 2 trucks , a passenger car, one or two
marine radios , and some , ls. . . .if we want thea.
sel. Thomas reported that Peter Jacobson's wife had called her to ask
for arneeting of the Inspectors , because no permits had been issued for
work being dome on the Mitchell property. It was agreed to turn the
matter over to Harold Collins, who would call a meeting, if necessary.
sel. Thomas reported that Mr* Cour-tema the has requested the use of
the Beach at the end of McGregor Road, to hold a lambake for his unit
of about 80 people, on August 6 . Chm. Garland reported that that be-
longs to the CorporAtion, he will have to get permission from them,
and he should notify the Fire Department if he is going to have a
fire there.
