x <br /> MINUTES OF ADMINISTRATIVE MEETING <br /> OF BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> July 2 , 1981 <br /> Present: Chairman Chester A. Garland, selectman Jean Thomas , Executive <br /> Secretary Joseph F. Murphy, Jr, , Walter R. Jacobson, Supt. of <br /> Highway Department. <br /> Since Henry Godleski, Civil. Defense Director who was scheduled to appear, <br /> had not arrived, M . Murphy went to Item 2 on the Agenda <br /> 2 warden Kelly Came in late one clay last week, and failed to appear the <br /> next clay. Barbara Hammond Called, and he said he was going to be out <br /> sick this was ars hour after working time had started) . He was denied <br /> his pay for that day. On Monday,- when Barbara Hammond presented him <br /> with the letter she had seat to the Selectmen. he left. in tears . and <br /> did not return. He will not be paid .for that clay, either. Mr. Mur- <br /> phy informed the Board that a grievance may be forthcoming. <br /> The Executive secretary reported that the Revenue Sharing Check will <br /> be late in arriving this year, because the reports for last year had <br /> not been finished and filed on time. Ken Culp worked on the reports <br /> for 8 hours on Sunday, and they are almost ready. The Town Accountant <br /> hopes to Close out this FY by October. The Executive secretary has <br /> advised hire to get temporary help to the extent that he is able, to <br /> get the work finished as quickly as possible. we will have to hold <br /> the fall Town Meeting in November, it appears. This means we are <br /> losing interest on the money, and will make the Town late in setting <br /> its tax rate, <br /> Regarding the water situation at the Polio and Fire Stations , tests <br /> have shown the water to Contain a high level of metal count. It does <br /> not seen parctical to put in a new well for just two buildings , in <br /> view of the ultimate plans for that location. Chief Gould is asking <br /> to put .in bottled water from a private company. Sel. Garland esti <br /> mated this action would cost $12 .00 a month. He stated that they <br /> have tried- putting f ilters on the cola water taps clown there, but it <br /> hasn't worked. The men have to have water to drink, Ch . Garland <br /> will look into the various possibilities* <br /> Mr. Murphy' s request for a vacation day on July 30 , 1981 , was approved. <br /> Regarding the beginning of the revaluation of Town property, the <br /> Executive secretary has advised Ms. Courtemanche that it might be a <br /> good idea for a public announcement to' be made to prepare people, who <br /> might be reluctant to allow the assessors in their- homes; the Police <br /> Dept. should be advised also, in ease they get inquiries. All asses- <br /> sors will have letters identifying them, signed by the Board of <br /> Assessors, Chm, Garland asked if the recent Changes - had been in- <br /> eluded in the contract. The answer was yes, and Ms. ourtem n h re- <br /> ports that the State was changing its requirements as late as yester- <br /> day, but the contractor was very willing to adjust the contract. <br /> 1 Mr* Godleski still hadn't arrived., so the Executive Secretary summarized <br /> the problem. Mr. Codloski has some small pieces of office equipment <br /> that could be picked up and put to use in Town offices , but he is re- <br />
