Murphy, Jr. 1 The Selectmen will he' ready to make an appointment to the position of c Jerk/Dospatc e ` of the Police Department at the meeting tomorrow; it appears that the Personnel Board ' s number one recommendation of Donna M. well is a good one, as M s . welling is well qualified for the position. The two Selectmen present reviewed the Town Counsel ' s recent co r uni.ca- tion relative o the Harhrm.as .er' s r-�T� w to eonr at skiff in navigational channels. They agreed it sho lld �o on the next Spceial or Annual Town Meeting, to he acted on as soon as possible. The Se1e tj. Mr. Murphy provided the Selectmen with background information on Michele Stone, who .is interested in serving on the Growth Study conunittee'. He feels she -would be a real asset to the Committee. Sel Thomas suggested ' that she he recommended to the Chairman of the Growth Study Committee, and perhaps he would want to invite her to talk to himself and his committee, and sena his recommendation to this Board. Agreed. The Executive Secretary feels it might be appropriate to hold a discussion in Executive Session tomorrow with the Police and Fire Chief, to discuss the subjects ects ro osed on the Briefing Sheet, as they do effect the security of the Town. Agreed. Chm, Garland feltconcern about raking the waterways Patrolmen Special Police officers . He is also concerned about recommending additional monies for these services . Mr. Murphy explained that this is going along with the plan to dive the voters a score card, find out what services will cost, give thea the options , and let them goose what they want or need the most. He pointed out that if a b oat is to be purchased, it doesn' t have to 1e new - it can be used. Relative to ,informing the voters of how much they can- spend, he reported that the Finance Committee is preparing a graph. Mr. Murphy stated that a bill was passed by the General court yesterday pertaining to Prop �, but he does not yet know the contents- of the hill. The Selectmen discussed the size boat needed. It was pointed out that specs would have to he drawn up. Sel. Thomas stated that an old Coast Guard Duck Boat would he ideal. She asked if the wades and expenses sho ldn"t be broken down -separately; Mr. Murphy said this was not necessary. However, he estimates the. breakdown will be approximately $1, 500 for wades , and $500 for expenses . - Mr. - Murphy .explained his Memorelative to license fee increases; since r it is mostly the liquor license holders who get the ether licenses , expecially for entertainment, and they have -been hit with one increase this year for - their liquor- license, he is reluctant to increase the fees
