Murphy.
Executive Secretary
Town of Mashpee
P. 0. Box 1108
'Iashpee, ISA 02649
RD: Commercial vehicles By-Law
Dear Joe:
Relative to the question raised by the Board of Selectmen as to
whether or not the proposed commercial vehicle ban would prohibit
"tradesmen from parking their vans or pickup trucks on streets. in
front of their homes" the answer '.s yes . As a matter -of fact,
the by- law as drafted would, prevent then from bringing their
commercial vehicles on to their own property if it were left
outside . The intend and thrust of the by-law is to prevent
commercial vehicles from being exposed to view in a residential
zone at any time between the hours of S : 90 p .m, to 9 : 00 a.m. .,
I would suggest that we modify the language of the original submssion
by changing Section 6 . 3 a. 10 . to read as- follows
"Parking f Commercial Vehi . les between the hours of S : 00 p .m. and
9 : 00 a.m. on private ways ublic ways3
e ' c e j_e.s . Excluded f r o-m
this ban are commercial vehicles being used in connection with
services being performed at the location where the vehicle is
pared during the time of performance of those services ,
Residential Commercial Industrial
R1 R2 R3 C1 C2I
SP SP
This change can b ' made in Griew of the fact that this article is being
presented by the Board of Selectmen. I would suggest that the above-
mentioned change be adopted and that you refer the proposal to the
Planning Board for the purpose of their conducting a public hearing
on the same as this is a zoning b -law.
U s e truly,
• o ..eph J. Reardon
JJ : s
