1 BOS Meeting
• Page 5 . 2/10/82
Plumbing Inspector
Mr. Murphy explained that the Plumbing Inspector has been appointed by
the Building Inspector for the past several years, as required by the
State Building Code. Yet, his budget, etc . has been handled through
the Office of the Board of Health. The question is, shouldn' t this be
transferred to the Building Inspector' s Office, and permits be issued
from there?
Mr. Lawrence responded that that would be no problem for the Board of
Health. The only hitch might be in the issuing of permits -- he felt
that that should be kept in the Board of. Health Office . That' s the only
way of being sure, he said, that all health requirements are met before
permits are issued. . . .for instance, before a disposal is installed, a
larger septic system is required, etc .
Chm. Garland agreed that it ,was important that these conditions be met
before a permit is issued, and asked if.:,that couldn' t be handled by a
daily report form being sent to their office daily? Sel . Thomas suggested
it might b e better to send a copy of the applications to the Board of
Health: Town Counsel stated that that sounded like a reasonable solution,
and should satisfy all requirements. The Board of Health agreed to that
plan, and it was mutually agreed that it could begin immediately.
The Board of Health left.
PRESS
A, member of the Press asked if Atty. St. Clair had authored the bill that
was the subject of the recent Washington Post article, reprinted in the
Cape Cod Times? Chm. Garland said he wasn' t sure, but he would doubt it,
since the bill, as written, does not include Massachusetts.
Meeting adjourned at 3 : 20 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Grace Erdman,
Administrative Secretary
