Garland moved to appoint Mr. Robert Watson as Acting Building Inspect- <br /> or during the Building Inspector' s absence . Mr. Watson' s term is to ex- <br /> pire April 4 , 1983. Chm. Thomas seconded pending a physical. This is <br /> a vote . Chm. Thomas recommends Dr. Lewis to do the examination. Chm. <br /> Thomas also explained to the audience that the Building Inspector is <br /> leaving on vacation from December 22 , 1982, until April 4 , 1983 . Mr. <br /> Fitzgerald our Assistant Building Inspector is to busy to take over, <br /> therefore, Mr. Watson has agreed to work on a schedule which will be <br /> made public . <br /> 9 . ) Set. Garland read the memo from the Executive Secretary regarding the <br /> museum. He stated as follows : "The Town Museum closed November 29 , 1982 <br /> for the season as attendance has been dropping off and our electric heat <br /> makes it more expensive to operate . The museum will still be open to <br /> groups by appointment during the Winter months and it can be announced <br /> publicly. The people can call the Town Hall at 477-0222 or Hannah <br /> Averett at 477-9362 . " He said it has been suggested that the museum <br /> reopen on Friday, April 15, 1982 as this is the same schedule we have <br /> used this Summer and Fall, and that is the Patriot's day weekend and <br /> the children' s school vacation. Sel. Garland so moved and Chm. Thomas <br /> seconded. This is a vote. <br /> Chm. Thomas asked if anyone had any new business . None was presented to <br /> the Board. <br /> Reporters asked questions on the septage lagoons . Board stated that they <br /> have not heard anything officially. However, the word is that one side <br /> of the lagoon should be operational tomorrow. Chm. Thomas said that she <br /> had received a call from Pilgrim Pride Nursing Home. They wanted to know <br /> when the lagoons would be open and operational . Discussion also followed <br /> on the bogs in Falmouth. <br /> Sel. Garland also stated that he did not know if this came under new business <br /> or old business , but he wanted to state publicly that never in his life has <br /> the dump looked as poorly as it did this morning. He said that something <br /> has got to be done , he spoke about the tires , depris , tree stumps along the <br /> side of the roadway. He said there are couches and mattresses and that the <br /> dump looks like a dump in its "raw sense . " He said that this Board and the <br /> Board of Health have a responsibility to do something about this . He also <br /> stated that he is not costicating the present contractor, who is running <br /> the dump . He spoke about the problem with the tires and how this has to be <br /> addressed. He said the dump contractor is not at fault. Chm. Thomas said <br /> that there has been formal' complaints . <br /> Sel . Garland moved that the Board recess until 4 :00 p .m. when the Finance <br /> ommittee and the Selectmen are to meet and have a work session. Board <br /> concurred.
