Garland asked Executive Secretary to explain how the Town is going <br /> g <br /> to re uest' Bxcav�atin Permits from anyone disturbing Town roads . e stated <br /> that the Superintendent of Streets is going to request an excavating permit <br /> because the contractors are making cuts into our roads . A frequent occur- <br /> rence is the breaking of our roads because of the heavy equipment and loads , <br /> as a result a number of Town roads are damaged. He also explained that <br /> the Falmouth Enterprise will publish this never regulation and this r gul'a-� <br /> tion will be n file at the Town Clerks office ,F P � ff' e the Buildin inspector� s <br /> and at the Hi hw 'De a.rtmen't. The contractors will have to apply <br /> office y <br /> and receive an excavating permit from the Superintendent of Streets and he <br /> will be working very closely with the Building Inspector, At some time <br /> the contractors will also have to post a bond. Garland asked for an <br /> update on Old Barnstable Road, Executive Secretary said that he had spoken <br /> to Mr. Lacava and the Supervisor and they had agreed not to use that road. <br /> Sel. Garland said that he does not know whose trucks they are , but that <br /> .twice he witnessed trucks coning out of Old Barnstable Road onto Central <br /> Road. He said there were no markings on the trucks , Executive Secretary <br /> will. pursue . Chm. Thomas said that we cannot stop .them from using that <br /> road and all that we are trying to do is prevent the breaking up of roads <br /> in the Town. <br /> Sel. . Garland brought up the statement Stade by Ir. Yarrow from the Depart- <br />' rrtent of Environmental ,�f fairs regarding South Gape Beach. Sel. garland <br /> some problem with this as it relates to the degree they plan on using <br /> has p ng Town parking lot. Chm. Thomas said that this would be addressed at the <br /> next meeting f the South Cape Beach Advisory Study Committee and the State . <br /> Sel. Garland also asked about our Police Department patrolling the beat <br /> now that the State owns it. He questions why the Town should be paying <br /> for this , Chm. Thomas recommended Sel. Garland send a memo to the South <br /> Cape Beach Advisory Committee relating his concerns . <br /> Linda Borg, Reporter from the Cape Cod Times , asked if she could make an <br /> apology because some of the articles for the Mashee area have not been <br /> P gy <br /> appearing earin in our edition, She explained what had happened and said that <br /> those articles would be included in the next edition. <br /> .m. - The Board of Health came to the Selectmen ' s meeting to discuss <br /> the problem with Mayflower Road. Mr. Charles Buckingham was the acting <br /> Chairman for the Board of Health. Chert, Thomas asked hint to proceed. He <br /> said that this meeting was to discuss the problems that we have with <br /> Mayflower Road, a said this has been passed from the Selectmen' s office <br /> to the Hoard of Health and the Planning Board, now the renter had called <br /> Mr, Decoteau. Chm. asked by whose authority . Mr. Buckingham said the <br /> renter' and that he is not the owner. Board asked who the renter was . <br /> Reply was Carol. Brown. Mr. Buckingham said he made an onsight inspection. <br /> p <br /> Chat. Thomas explained the problem which -is a -drainage problem. The water <br /> fills the street and it is unpassable. <br /> Mr. Don Blakeman who is ,the owner- explained that originally the Town <br /> Engineer warted certain things clone and -the Architect didn' t want to do <br /> it.
