Garland asked Executive Secretary to explain how the Town is going <br /> to request Excavating Permits from anyone disturbing Town roads . He stated <br /> that the Superintendent of Streets is going to request an excavating permit <br /> because the contractors are taking cuts into our roads . A frequent occur-- <br /> rence is the breaking of our roads because of the heavy equipment and loads , <br /> as a result a number of Town roads are damaged. He also explained that. <br /> the Falmouth Enterprise willublish ' this new regulation and this regula- <br /> tion will be on file at the Town Clerk' s office , the ' Building Inspector' s- <br /> office and at the Highway Department, The contractors will have t apply <br /> and receive an excavating permit from the Superintendent of Streets and he <br /> will.' be working very closely with the Building Inspector. At some time <br /> the contractors will also have to post a bond. Sel . Garland asked for an <br /> date on Old Barnstable Road. Executive Secretary said that he had spoken <br /> to Mr. Lacava and the Supervisor and they had agreed not to use that road. <br /> Sel. .Garland said that he does not know whose trucks they are , but that <br /> twice he witnessed trucks . corning out of old Barnstable Road onto Centra: <br /> He said there were no markings on the trucks . Executive Secretary <br /> Road. - <br /> will pursue. Chm. Thomas said that we cannot stop them from using that <br /> road and all that we are trying to do is prevent the breaking up of roads <br /> in the Town. <br /> Sel . Garland brought up the statement made by Mr. -Yarrow from the Depart- <br /> ment of Environmental Affairs regarding South Cape Beach. Sel . Garland <br /> has some problem with this as it relates t the degree they plan on using <br /> Town parking lot. Chm. Thomas said that this would be addressed at the <br /> next ,meeting of the South} Cape Beach Advisory Study Committee and the State . <br /> Sel .. Garland also asked about our Police Department patrolling the beach <br /> now that the State owns it. He .questions why the Town : should be paying <br /> for this . Chm. Thomas recommended Sel. Garland send a memo to the South <br /> Cape Beach Advisory Committee relating his concerns . <br /> Linda Borg, reporter from the Cape Cod Times , asked if she could make an <br /> - apology because some o the articles for the Ma g ee area have not been <br /> appearing <br /> earin in our edition. - She explained ghat had happened and said that <br /> those articles would be included in the next edition. <br /> 0 .m. - The Board of Health came to the Selectmen' s meeting to discuss <br /> theroblem with mayflower Road. He <br /> said that this meeting was to discuss the problems that e have with <br /> Mayflower Road. a said this has been passed from the Selectmen' s office- <br /> to the Board of Health and the Planning Board, now the renter had called <br /> Mr. Decoteau. Chin. asked by whose authority. Mr. Buckingham said the <br /> renter and that he is not' the owner. Board asked who the renter was * <br /> Reply l was Carol Brown. Mr. Buckingham said he m de an 'onsight inspection. <br /> Chia. Thomas explained the prob'lern which is - drainage problem. The water <br /> fills the street and it is unpassable . <br /> Mr, Dori Blakeman who is the owner explained that originally the Town <br /> Engineer wanted certain, things clone and the Architect didn ' t want to do <br /> it. loads were put in, loads were inspected, drainage was okay, signed <br /> off. Town Engineer stated that the roads were up to snuff, The Town had <br />
