Garland said <br /> that for everyone" s information, the Town does have an Executive Secretary <br /> and he introduced Mr. Joseph F. Murphy. Everyone laughed. Sel. Garland also <br /> stated that from his obsevation the word communication was overworked and <br /> he preferred the word rapport. <br /> 2. on the letter from Selena Coombs ,- ,del. Garland moved to accept firs .Coombs <br /> de lination to serve the ap ointment to the Mashpee District Historic <br /> Commission with regrets . seconded by Chm. Thomas . This is a vote. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> 1. n the letter from Mr. John - . L mina requesting to ..close- th.e Quashnet <br /> v.alley- Lounge for three months for renovations , the Executive Secretary <br /> explained that -this could not be approved 'as it is against the law. <br /> m. Thomas -said that by law we cannot do that and that she had checked <br /> it out this morning. Chm. Thomas also mentioned that Hearings should <br /> be set by Executive secretary for those who are not using their liquor <br /> licenses properly. sel. Garland said that he is not satisfied with the <br /> operation over there. Sial. Garland moved to deny the request. seconded <br /> by Chm. Thomas . This is a vote. <br /> 2. on the memo from the Personnel Board, sel. Garland moved that the Board 1 <br /> accept the recommendation of the Personnel Board and appoint Mr. Martin <br /> Hendricks to the position of Maintenance-Laborer. sconded by Chem. Thmas . <br /> This is a vote . <br /> .:. Discussion on the memo from Chief- Frye pierftaini-ng to a step increase for <br /> . Dorothy Studley followed. -el.. Garland moved that Dorothy Studley, -secre- <br /> tary/dispatcher 'hourly rate of pay i be increased from $5 . 13 to $5 . 38,, re <br /> troactive from December 1 , 1982 , providing sufficient funds are available <br /> in the budget. seconded by Chm. Thomas . This is a vote. <br /> 4. ) Sel. Garland asked if the Town knew the line of demnar'lation 'between south <br /> Cape Beach that i owned the State and the property owned by the Town& <br /> sel . Garland suggests it be determined. sel.. Garland also suggest that <br /> the 'down take the steps necessary to post no parking, towing zone , signs, <br /> so that residents are `not bothered with parkin from people going to the <br /> beach. Chm. Thomas said that this was definately in order. Chin. Thomas <br /> said that she thinks there is a sign. . el-.. Garland recommends the Town <br /> propose a by-law that would be apropos to that road. Chin. Thomas said <br /> that this has been discussed before and that Chief Frye is to prepare <br /> this by-law. sed.. Garland said that if this is the case he recommends <br /> that Chief Frye advise the Boa-rd by Wednesday, January 12 , of ther-o ce- <br /> duxes e proposes ro ose or suggests that would accomplish the no parkingr towing <br /> zone, on Great Oak Road, and Red Brick load to the beginning of south <br /> Cape Beach.
