r BOARD of SELECTMEN MEETING February 16 , 1983 PRESENT: Chairwoman B. Jean Thomas , Selectmen Chester A. Garland and. will Hanson, Executive Secretary Joseph F. Murphy, 'Town Counsel Joseph J. Reardon. GUESTS: Elliot Smoler, Curtis Woodbury, Wendy Rubinj Elizabeth Simpson, Jane Peterson, Robert eEorY, Ursula Howard, John C, Howard, Jr, , John [mina, Brian .Harrison, and Anne Fitzgerald, Attorney Michael Gilman. 2 : 00 p.m. - hr .. 'Thomas convened the meeting. Lotion by Selectman Garland to accept the minutes of the February 9 , 1983 Regular M6eting and the Executive Session as written. Seconded by Selectman Hanson. This is a vote.. 2 :00 p.m.. - Chm, Thomas introduced i t# Elliot Smoler as the Housing. Authority Chairman and explained that the Board had written to Mr.. moler asking-him ithere were any funds available for elderlyhousing and for other housing projects ._ Chm,, 'Thomas also stated that if there were possibly the method could .be brought up to a developer who night be interested in a project like that. Mr. smoler responded by bringing the Board up to date. He said that the Housing Authority. was reogni zed= y the Secretary of State in Septemberf 1982, and they have had 'a full contingency until recently when, one of their members passed away. He. stated that- the new appointment has been made . and .the individual, he believes , has been' sworn in. He said the problem is with the. attendance to meetings by the Commission members., and in order to do business there must be a quorum, this is one of there- roblems. He hopes this will be corrected at the March meeting. Mr. Smol_er said that there are funds available and must. be filed for in may or June to the Federal and later on for the State. hm, Thomas asked flir . �'Smoler- llf he thought it would help for the selectmen to send a memo to the members .expressing their concerns about the meetings , Mr, Smoler said that this might help. Board thanked hire for coming. 2 : 00 p,m, on the Commonwealth Electric Public Hearing, Board defered action until a sworn affidavit is received from therm starting that Lacava Trust is indeed the owner of the land. 2 :15 p.m. Mr, Umina brought in- a statement 'of the hours that Quashnet Valley Lounge would be open and stated that the Board of Health would be there to inspect on Thursday. Sel. Garland 'moved to approve the hours and allow the license pending the Board of Health's inspection. Seconded by Sel, Hanson, This is a vote. OLD BUSINESS: 1. Sed.. Hansom explained the letter -from Mr. v. i. Cassese, District Highway Engineer relative to changing .of. --the speed limit on Route , .half rile south-west of the Mashpee Rotaryr which the Executive Secretary had been asked to look into.
