Sel.. Hanson feels that we should have our chief do a <br /> radar check . Board discussed equipr en needed to do this . Board <br /> decided to have Executive Secretary pursue this. <br /> 2 . ). Executive Secretary stated that the Board has received a letter <br /> fr m the Acting Building Inspector, Acting Fire Chief and the Board <br /> of Health Agent relative to the buildings of Hadley Associates . <br /> ixbseluently the firm has asked for a- special permit .to operate. <br /> He also said that the firm has been advised that the Board of .Selectmen <br /> has no authority-- to issue a special permit in this area. He suggests. <br /> that their only recourse would be a zoning change. Board recommends <br /> that Executive Secretary send a letter to Hadley Associates telling <br /> them the procedure -they should follow. Se l , Garland asked if this <br /> business was still operating. Executive Secretary replied that it has <br /> ceased. <br /> . on the letter from Mr, Kogut explaining why, lois business is still <br /> closed, the Board decided not to take action on this letter- and <br /> proceed with the public hearing on March 2, 19.83. <br /> Chir►. Thomas asked if there was any other old business .. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> ESS <br /> 1, on the memo from the Executive Secretary regarding South Cape Beach, <br /> he is- rec-ommending that the Board take immediate actions to prevent <br /> the Department of Environmental -Manag meat- from opening. South Cape <br /> Beach State Park on a limited basis this 'year. He recommends that <br /> -the beach not be allowed to open until the new roadway is completed, <br /> and the .-new town beach i completed, axed also .that the proposed signed <br /> devices are operable. Chin. Thomas - stated that this was discussed at <br /> the Monday night meeting of the -South Cape Beach Advi ory Committee. <br /> She said that there will .be a meeting on Tuesday, February 22 , to <br /> see if we can overcome some of the problems that are involved. Chia. <br /> Thomas explained that Great oak Road is a town owned road, and there <br /> is a legal layout and over the years the layout has beer- dverted so <br /> now we- have a road that in some places is not within the legal layout. <br /> She sai:.d the ' road has been in poor- condition for many gears and now <br /> there are som6 possible encroachment on the legal layout. She stated <br /> that they cannot reconstruct the road until we- straighten out some of <br /> these problems . She feels these problems are town problems . we haven"t <br /> spent money on it knowing that the State might take it over. She also <br /> said that to place pressure on the State and upset the people. that lige <br /> in the area she, finds that- very difficult to ligei'th. She feels this <br /> will not resolve any problems 'and it won' t get the job done any quicker. <br /> hm. � Thomas stated that the State is more than willing to work with us . <br /> She feels that if we place the State on a defensive roll we have to <br /> remember this, that the tax payers spent millions of dollars to pre- <br /> serve this park. She stated that the voters in the town voted or- <br /> whelmingly- for the Stat :'� 4ulsition of this area, She said Representa- <br /> tive Cahir in the Spring will seek funds to repair this road, and the <br /> only way to accomplish this is for all.' f us to work together.
