.BOARD of SELECTMEN MEE'T'ING <br /> July 13 , 1983 <br /> PRESENT: Chairman Chester A. Garland, Selectman Willard L. Hanson, Selectman <br /> Richard L. Terry, 'down Counsel Joseph J. Reardon, Executive <br /> Secre- <br /> tary Joseph F, Murphy. <br /> NETS: Mr, Mark Snider, Mrs, B. Jean Thomas , Ms. Jane Peterson, Mr. Edward <br /> Hartin Fite Chief and Nis . Anne T. Shaw. <br /> 6 : 00 P.m& - Chairman Garland -convened the meeting. <br /> Sel. Hanson stated that a correction was needed in the minutes- of the July <br /> 6 ,F 19 -regular meeting, under- Hearings and Appointments , at the 6 :30 p.m, <br /> appointment. Administrative Secretary wrote that the Board met with -the <br /> Briarwood Assos iation and-dt- should of 'been- the- Pirate' s Cove Association. <br /> Correction to be rade. Motion by Sel. Hanson to accept the minutes as <br /> amended. Seconded by Sel. Terry. Motion Carried. <br /> HEARINGS AND APPOINTMENTS <br /> 6 : 06 p.m. Chin. : Garland- convened the Public Hearing on. the- Cape Cod <br /> Hyannis Railroad, Inc. ' s , request for a license to operate <br /> motor vehicles for the carriage of passengers . <br /> Executive - Secretary read the. public hearing. ,notice and explained <br /> that the. request had been submitted on June 3 , 1983 and that <br /> the Board had sixty days to� accept. He also noted that there <br /> is a question. of jurisdiction. between the public utilities <br /> and the department of public works over this matter, but that <br /> this should not affect the town as the Board is only acting <br /> on the town license, Mr-. Murphy than proceeded. to introduce <br /> Mr. Mark Snider who is the President of the Cape Cod & Hyannis <br /> Railroad. Chin, Garland recognized Mr. Snider. <br /> Mr. Snider gave .a brochure to all the Selectmen and stated <br /> that on the back- page- it explained the purpose of why they <br /> were requesting the license. The, purpose being to transport <br /> train passengers from its- rai1road''s-tat ions . <br /> Chm. Garland asked why. the request to use Old ,Falmouth Road <br /> Route 151. Mr. Snider replied that it was for the flexibility. <br /> Discussion continued. Executive Secretary explained that they <br /> have received a temporary order from the D.P . . for one hundred <br /> and twenty days , which will expire September 23, 1983 . <br /> Chm. Garland said that- he would entertain a motion to take <br /> this matter under advisement.. Sel. - Terry moved to take under <br /> - advisement. ' el. Hanson asked why .Mr. Snider had to get per- <br /> mission <br /> er- <br /> mission to use a bus in town. Executive Secretary explained* <br /> Chm. Garland recommended using one road rather than two. Mr. <br /> Snider said he had no objections to the restriction. Mr. <br /> Snider stated that the bus would only be going through Mashpee <br /> once on - Saturdays . They would be leaving Hyannis at 11 : 30 atm. <br />
